If you want more info on resizable wheel oddities about traction and slipForwardExtremum and stuff, search for "Extremum" on the site. There are some useful forum posts discussing that.
Oh also, Traction values are multiplier of these (forward and sideways respectively).

(@)theeunknown oh. Well I figured it out I think. Extremum is the max force the tires can handle before the tires lose traction and the asymptote is the amount of grip the tires are allowed to get after said traction is lost. You cannot assign negative or the number 0 values to these two and tire traction is a scale modifier for these two things although I don't reccomended going over 2. you'll want more forward traction than sideways traction in cars since more rubber is contacting laterally/side to side on the road for acceleration than rubber is front to back for cornering. Also a thing to note is that for slip extremum the higher the value is the easier it loses traction. the biggest changes happen between 1&100 values. For slip asymptote the higher the value is, the more grip you'll have after traction is lost. Biggest changes happen between 1&200 values, although you can go over 200 for both and still see a change. Hope this helped
Nice tank and Huey, happy to see this style of resizable wheel based tracks on more builds:)
Noticed the wheels do the weird slip thing when stationary though, you can tweak the slipForwardExtrenum and Asymptote value in XML if you want to make that stop and maybe even low-physics proof the tank.
In short, heavier the load on each wheel (ie heavier the vehicle), higher the values need to be.
.
.
Here's the settings of the wheels of my tank (M103), it probably won't work on your tank without changes, so tweak the values and find the sweet spot if you gonna try this.
Common settings:
Mass - 3
slipForwardExtremum - 30
slipForwardAsymptote - 200
slipSidewaysExtremum - 10
slipSidewaysAsymptote - 120
-Forgot the reasons, but Asymptote should be higher than Extremum.
.
-I kinda forgot why I've increased wheel mass, but I think it had to do with the weight of the tank (58,600kg). Larger wheel mass maybe made it act less weird (ie less slip thing when stationary) especially on Low Physics mode, but I'm not sure. Extremum and Asymptote need to be higher though if the wheel mass is larger. Wheels will do the slip thing otherwise.
Forward moving wheels
(3 per side, 5 if include fore/aft most angled ones) *wheel numbers are irrelevant here.
Traction FWD - 1.5/150%
Traction Sideways - 1.5/150%
maxAngularVelocity - 15
Impressed by the glide capability and camera steering control of these, cool build.
I have a guided bomb of somewhat similar function (manual control or fire and forget) and working on improved versions, but they can't glide like this one yet.

:) To be honest? I was delighted to see this on this site, RTL-2 is one of my favorite designs from the show. Old maybe, but still a cool build!
(I should clarify that my earlier comment was a quote from the episode (Cham Cham), maybe it was slightly different.)
Speaking of which, I was building a not-mig from that episode that shoots down this cargo jet some time ago... I should find it and finish it...
@LetonVignec
It's cool as it is. Wouldn't say no to seeing more of those done with modern techniques, though!
Maybe I will give it a shot myself some time, although, there are so little reference images on the internet, and my DS is broken, so I'm not sure how accurate I can make them. I'm really glad that you made these and kept this niche part of gaming history alive or, made it come back to life.
@WarHawk95
Haha😂 Worry not, this one's like an SD quality video compared to the much more detailed model of yours. lol
(looking forward to downloading & playing with it)
Whoa, a 70s muscle car? Yes all the way!
Can't say I'm familiar with the source material (neither the car nor the show), but this is great. Very cool build.
Oh wow, just realized mine's gone, too! It was there like a couple of weeks ago before I updated my game (I play on iOS/I may have missed a few updates), so I highly suspect it's a bug brought in with one of the recent updates.
Ground mode shows the line (I'm not a fan of that), but air mode shows nothing.
I've tested
-all predictor settings, with air to air and air to ground
-with function switched from AtA, AtG, and Multirole
but nothing gave me the reticle for Air to Air mode. Quite annoying.
@IceCraftGaming
Me too, everything feels bigger and more real.
Fyi, the walker I used was this (Deckhand by pancelvonat, link). I just put a camera on it. I recommend you give it a try if you don't have a walker atm:) (Kinda finicky to control but fun)
@HTTPCREATION1O2
Well, I was wondering why people upvote without downloading myself, but it's free upvotes, so... I won't complain. Haha
P.S.
With this thing, I guess there's not much point in downloading, so I guess it's not that strange. (I'll be happier if people did try the build though)
If anyone has a difficulty connecting bomb or bomb rack to a correct pylon, here's what helps:
1)first, hide the pylon(s) using visibility button. (Eye button)
2)second, reverse visibility (another eye button), so you see only the pylons you just hid.
3)third, get the thing as subassembly like normal, and put it on your pylon. It shouldn't stick to other blocks, since you only have the pylons visible.
-A-6 (with the bombs) coming soon... maybe. (hopefully!)
.
-There will be a triple-bomb-rack version of the 500lb ones at some point.
.
-I can't say when I can publish it, but I'm working on even more mobile friendlier version of these bombs, with just 2x fins each. (That's 4 parts per bomb, and if you mount 4x of the 500lb version (24 bombs), that'll be a reduction of 48 parts.)
@THEOKPILOT
Oh, I was referring mainly to the 'abandoned again' part. I mean, who would steal (or retrieve?) a truck and do body works only to abandon it again. If these really are the same truck that is... Hey I just got an idea, maybe you can hide a GPS tracker on the truck somewhere, in case someone tries to steal it again. I doubt it'll happen (again), but if it does... it might lead us somewhere.
.
As for storm from around 1995... I can't say it rings a bell. I wasn't around Wright Isles at that time. These cases of missing people seem kinda under reported around here, though, come to think of it...

-I've noticed that wheels/tank won't be able to go over obstacles if the spring is too weak, probably regardless of wheel size or the damper value.
+1I never imagined myself getting the 'deep sea fear' goose bumps from an SP-MP video... that was creeeepy.
+1So, what software did you really use?
Don't worry, I'm a doctor, you can be honest with me.

I have a little surprise hidden in the building for when you hit the it with a bomb :]

+1Can't promise I'll make more tanks, but I'm working on some non-tank tracked armors
That was pretty rad!

Very cool scifi/fictional design (I assume it is?)! Looks tough and powerful!
+1I LOOVE THIS!
Really clever use of rockets. Really nails the visuals napalm canisters.
...I might steal- I mean borrow the idea or the assembly for my build (will credit you if I do)...
+1Anyway, thanks for the cool build!
This design is really weird, but also cool. Weird cool. To my eyes anyway. Nice build!

I love this, something about it (maybe the ridiculously large jet engine) makes me smile lol

Hey, you can do it :)
It takes like 5 minutes at most. Just need to save, save as subassembly, and put this on your plane. Bam!

Yes, it's just a term used in military aviation. Now, let's have more interesting discussions here, thank you!
