@PxVector my bad, i wasnt going to have a cockpit originally hence i had the missiles on the group, i forgot to alter that after building the cockpit...
@LieutenantSOT Enjoy =) I just flew a <100ft sortie to destroy the USS beast convoy, 80% throttle and buzzing around at that altitude just feels so nice lol.
@Type2volkswagen thats about right, at somepoint every part of the pilots head got attached to the seat, it took 30mins just to get the head moving again... thanks for letting me know.
@jamesPLANESii ah that would be why i wasnt aware of it =)
I've been working on another ww1 biplane and because it has to have a cockpit anyway i was using the VR parts, but i was wondering how do rudder peddles interact with VR? im assuming they are just ignored as VR is just hands and head right?
@jamesplanesii thanks for the upvotes. Out of curiosity I've wondered how/why your name is in green? I've seen a few people with names in green but there doesn't appear to be a pattern in regards points?
@BreadIsAfruit Theres loads of issues with the concept i feel. For instance the wheel geometery changes when the wing moves up or down so pitching up lifts the rear and puts the nose down (the opposite of what you want for takeoff and landing). Theres probably a reason Vought used a top mounted wing on the crusader... I tried to make the pedestal chunky to reduce how weak it looks dangling a wing below it.
@BaconAircraft Afternoon, Im having some bother getting RAF1's competition to download i.e. it wont. If i post this seperately would you be so kind as to link it as a successor to his competition here?
@DieLoaf Feel free to pass your opinion on things, i dont mind even if i dont agree with you lol. I kind of get what you are saying, im struggling to see how my builds are too similar, if i reuse anything i tend to rebuild everything else (so if i use the wing, then the fuselage etc. will be completely new) and i build everything from ww1 to the far distant future, i suppose they all have wings and a fus but that about it for similiarities unless they are part of a sequence of builds. I'm not interested in replicas, i would much rather use my imagination and put my own slant on an aircrafts design, sometimes using real aircraft for inspiration, sometimes not - this does test my skills much more than slaving over a single build to make sure its a millimeter perfect copy of something that has already been built. Just out of curiosity why was my F104 annoying?
@DieLoaf Thanks for your comment and upvote. Ive tried making cockpits in the past, to me it an enourmous waste of time / effort / parts - i rarely fly an aircraft from cockpit view so its of no benefit (I prefer to work on the aircraft itself - each to their own.) Daft as it may sound but i only found the advanced button for slicing halfway through this build... so i was working with only being able to slice one side which obviously limited my building, i have found it now so hopefully it will help in future builds (that have not already started lol). Yeah i agree with you regarding the U/C but its not that far out of position, the long nose and heavy engine up front would have brough the CofG forward from the normal 1/3rd of the wing chord, but its my fault as i re-used an existing wing from a tail dragger.
Thanks eveyone =) I enjoyed my 5 weeks off from building, i have to admit i was tempted not to start building again but then i saw a picture of the ME309 which piqued my interest enough to start again. I doubt i will be building as regular as before and no doubt as im not making "meme" builds you wont see me on the home page lol. @Tang0five @ThomasRoderick @BeastHunter
@WhyBreadSoFattning can you elaborate on that? This is a big twin engine aircraft that should be heavy to fly around but its a doddle to takeoff, fly and land so im confused why you think its hard to fly???
@HelloHelloTheUnt awesome. I was meant to go to Duxford a few years ago to get a flight with nettie but other things happened and then covid stopped play.... glad she is still glying. I did a semi scalecreplica of her on here s while back hence having tye fuselage for this.
@LieutenantSOT to be honest I wouldn't know where to start with variables, I only use commands people have given me. In my opinion funkytrees are the worst thing to be added to this game, it used to be about building aircraft with basic functions which was fun, now if you don't use a multitude of complex formulas no one appears interested. I'm seriously considering just not posting builds, the fun for me has always been the building, some upvotes etc are nice but not essential.
@Tyrell weird, i was flying at 100% throttle and it was fine... It's not even my build, all i did was make the thing fly as the original was like a brick.
@Tyrell i have just redownloaded this, it flies fine, just use half flaps and a bit of up pitch on takeoff as per normal, no prop strikes for me (and i even landed it without striking the prop)
@SimpleHelper Wahoo, some one guessed correctly the aircraft inspiration lol. I had to tame it down a bit to get it back to WW1 style as Porco Rosso was interwar as far as i could tell.
@pedro16797 just give the prize to bogdan already then :) he specialises in low part count detailed builds, mine always run to a higher part count as I like to play with camo and bendy roundels etc. I will have to attempt something out of my comfort zone then. Thanks for the clarification.
my gauges just spin around when i add them to my build, is there a standard set of settings for each use i.e. for a compass set it up like this, for IAS do this? @HellFireKoder
@pedro16797 Sorry my bad, i didnt realise it was based around VR (which I dont have), i only got to the 350 part limit of your description which ruled me out of any entry and didnt read the rest =)
@pedro16797 350 parts? why is the bar set so low? My 4 year old phone easily loads 1000+ part builds? 350 parts means no camo patterns or roundels etc...
@Skykid028 lol, i built this 3.8 years ago and only started playing the game 4.5 years ago, i dont think its bad for when it was built. If you want some more detail on undercarriage have a look at my more recent builds =)
@AWESOMENESS360 Judge for yourself here. My RC one was way too manoeverable, i cant speak for the real thing but roll rate was crazy and pitch only needed very small movement of the elevator to loop etc, too much pitch control lead to insanely tight loops, loss of airspeed and stalls.
@edensk ah that actually makes it a bit easier to make on the fly adjustments to a code, thanks for pointing that out, i wouldnt have found it, i thought clicking it would have just changed it to the next thing in the list i.e. VTOL or TRIM or something. Have you noticed that the COG,COT,COL colours have changed and are very washed out now?
@Th3proffesional my steam is set up to automatically download and install simpleplanes updates/betas. I had this 90% built before update landed yesterday.
@wnp78 I tried submitting a bug report but the report itself its bugged... it wont let me submit without a URL for the specific build... So what i was trying to say was hinges now default to full speed of 50% not 100%, when you move the slider it fixes itself but jumps while doing so. Any airbrake or rotator that uses funky trees now displays "funky" instead of the command when clicked on (really annoying when yoiu have multiple airbrakes doing different things and you have to go into overload on each to see whats going on.) In addition the build seems to lag more than normal.
@PxVector my bad, i wasnt going to have a cockpit originally hence i had the missiles on the group, i forgot to alter that after building the cockpit...
+1@LieutenantSOT Enjoy =) I just flew a <100ft sortie to destroy the USS beast convoy, 80% throttle and buzzing around at that altitude just feels so nice lol.
+2@V perfect, thankyou so much for this, it works brilliantly.
@Type2volkswagen thats about right, at somepoint every part of the pilots head got attached to the seat, it took 30mins just to get the head moving again... thanks for letting me know.
+2@jamesPLANESii ah that would be why i wasnt aware of it =)

@MAHADI just wondering if there was an update on this?
@RAF1 ah OK, 1 entry it is then.
+1@RAF1 is your contest limited to 1 entry? Oh and is it limited to modern aircraft or can i do something interesting while looking historical =)
+1@Tang0five thanks 😊 I thoroughly enjoy playing with stringbags, nothing better than stringing it all up after doing 90% of the build.
+1@RAF1 no worries, it might be why there are so few entries. I managed to download other stuff so its just a bit odd.
+1Thanks @BaconAircraft I'll try not to do this too often =)

+2@RAF1 Anyone else reporting issues with downloading this challenge? I have tried a few times and nothing seems to happen...
+1@Kangy nah too many parts and v boring :)
+2@AvalonIndustries your not far wrong, google Ju-287, thats the basis of the design before i added my own twists =)
+1@Liquidfox01 good fun isn't it :) thanks for your upvote and comment
@AirCrashInvestigationFLR wow, must be an old phone... mine runs this without an issue and its nearly 4 years old...
@DieLoaf Feel free to pass your opinion on things, i dont mind even if i dont agree with you lol. +3@WhyBreadSoFattning it does have afterburner. Have you pressed ag2 to turn engines on and then full throttle with ag1 on? It pitches around 60knts...
@WhyBreadSoFattning can you elaborate on that? This is a big twin engine aircraft that should be heavy to fly around but its a doddle to takeoff, fly and land so im confused why you think its hard to fly???
@BogdanX Thanks Bog, ill have to fix that, i wonder when that got stuck as it was definately working when i was building...
@HelloHelloTheUnt awesome. I was meant to go to Duxford a few years ago to get a flight with nettie but other things happened and then covid stopped play.... glad she is still glying. I did a semi scalecreplica of her on here s while back hence having tye fuselage for this.
@pedro16797 did mine get entered? here, its less than 350parts and has the appropriate tags.
@LieutenantSOT to be honest I wouldn't know where to start with variables, I only use commands people have given me. @HelloHelloTheUnt I don't know, there is loads to do to finish them
@WhyBreadSoFattning just nick it from one of my older builds :)
@AWESOMENESS360 tag as requested.
@Tang0five Thanks, not many people use dazzle camo on here so I thought i would be a bit different again (imagine that).
+1@ThomasRoderick i was never away =) Just with the new patch all the builds are taking so much longer...
+1@SimpleHelper Wahoo, some one guessed correctly the aircraft inspiration lol. I had to tame it down a bit to get it back to WW1 style as Porco Rosso was interwar as far as i could tell.

+1@LieutenantSOT I don't unfortunately, you may be able to alter the delay formula for undercarriage doors to work on throttle?
+1@Skykid028 lol, i built this 3.8 years ago and only started playing the game 4.5 years ago, i dont think its bad for when it was built. If you want some more detail on undercarriage have a look at my more recent builds =)
@Falkenwut your probably not wrong, i just did what most modern fighters appear to be doing see here for example
+2@AWESOMENESS360 Judge for yourself here. My RC one was way too manoeverable, i cant speak for the real thing but roll rate was crazy and pitch only needed very small movement of the elevator to loop etc, too much pitch control lead to insanely tight loops, loss of airspeed and stalls.
@kakaha Thanks, how did you find this? I built it over 3 years ago...
@edensk ah that actually makes it a bit easier to make on the fly adjustments to a code, thanks for pointing that out, i wouldnt have found it, i thought clicking it would have just changed it to the next thing in the list i.e. VTOL or TRIM or something. @Thecatbaron no idea, I just clagged on the new dials, ask jundroo :)
@MrShenanigans not that I've noticed, we have a load more parts and even another row of colours though :)
@Th3proffesional my steam is set up to automatically download and install simpleplanes updates/betas. I had this 90% built before update landed yesterday.
