I am honestly stunned that this only has 18 upvotes so far...deserves hundreds more! Something is very wrong with the rating system in this community...

  • TF-12 "Viper" (Bob/Falco Collab) 8.5 years ago

@BobTheTitanSP thanks! And I still love your work 😛 I'm toying with the idea of uploading some stuff soon , but it all seems kinda hard to compete in the world of Wndows users though...

  • KAMOV KA-52 'ALLIGATOR' with ejection seat and real Working cockpit 8.7 years ago

Great stuff!...though I couldn't quite get the ejection seat to work haha

  • Kamov KA-50 "Black Shark" V2.0 8.7 years ago

@DestinyAviation thanks for rating! Criticism noted, but unfortunately when I tried making an ejector seat type thing, everything underwent a process of rapid, day ruining, tear inducing explodification

  • Kamov KA-50 "Black Shark" V2.0 8.7 years ago

@DeezDucks he's only gone and NOT given up on this game XD

  • Kamov KA-50 "Black Shark" V2.0 8.7 years ago

@Halfstrike thanks for the upvote! I'll check it out

  • Kamov KA-50 "Black Shark" V2.0 8.7 years ago

@Viper28 @HetaliaAerospaceIndustries @delphirier thanks for the upvotes! I'll have a look into the gyro-stabilisation...and slick is my middle name :P

  • Kamov KA-50 "Black Shark" 8.7 years ago

    @HetaliaAerospaceIndustries thanks man :P You've gained a follower!

  • Mil Mi-1 'Hare' 8.7 years ago

@SkyTerror users playing SimplePlanes on Android or PC can mod parts like propellers and fuselages to fiddle around with the values and such, hence the massive propeller I've used on this. As an iOS user, I can't mod anything at all whatsoever so I've just made use of what I can find on the site. Hope it helps :P

  • Ka-50 nose art 8.8 years ago

The rotor system and nose art is absolutely magical

  • Kamov KA-50 "Black Shark" 8.8 years ago

    @TheLatentImage @grizzlitn thanks chaps :P

  • Mil Series: Mi-2 "Hoplite" 8.8 years ago

@grizzlitn thanks!..."Onward to the final victory" as they say

  • MADMAX 3 THUNDERDOME 8.8 years ago

    Awesome build...disappointing film :P

  • 'Kestrel' Concept Helicopter 8.9 years ago

@ujhSkyler you are literally the first person that's ever told me one of my helicopters is easy to fly. Hats off to you, sir! :P

  • Mil Mi-24/35 'Hind' 8.9 years ago

@AlphaOneIndustries agreed, though I'd spare the civilian population of NK. Just obliterate Kim Jong Un and his cronies :D

  • Mil Series: Mi-1 "Hare" 8.9 years ago

@bobthetitan thanks! All the same to you :P

  • goboygo1's Profile Pic 8.9 years ago

@Scarfacerm I would be absolutely speechless if you managed to make mine XD

  • Mil Mi-1 'Hare' 8.9 years ago

@Trent1sz I hear ya! Problem hopefully solved with my latest update of it. Hope it works out ok :)

  • Westland Scout AH.1 8.9 years ago

@TheChosenZebra I found a modded propellor part (XML/Root game file modding) somewhere on this website and have used the same part for all my helicopters since :P I forget who uploaded it in the first place but I owe them a lot!

  • Mil Mi-1 'Hare' 8.9 years ago

    @Rohan thanks! :D

  • Mil Mi-1 'Hare' 8.9 years ago

@Aerobako I've contacted the devs to ask for the older one to be removed, so fear not :P

  • Mil Mi-1 'Hare' 8.9 years ago

@Aerobako I'm feeling the previous one wasn't really noticed at all, and I've made a few minor stability improvements :D Do you know how to delete older aircraft from the SimplePlanes site? I've never been able to figure it out and I'd like to do that with the previous version of this

  • Mil Mi-24/35 'Hind' 9.0 years ago

@Trent1sz no worries. I'm just glad you don't REALLY want to make Russia a crater :P

  • CAV-4A Narwhal 9.0 years ago

@BritishNarwhal sadly, it's not quite a 'BritishNarwhal' though, is it :P

  • Mil Mi-24/35 'Hind' 9.0 years ago

@Trent1sz thank god you weren't President during the Cold War

  • Mil Mi-24/35 'Hind' 9.0 years ago

@Allstar I'm so glad you like it XD

  • Westland Scout AH.1 CAS (PLEASE DO NOT UPVOTE) 9.0 years ago

True, but I'd still take the majority. Perhaps upvoting his other planes would be more appropriate, or predecessor to this?

  • Westland Scout AH.1 9.0 years ago

@Sharkie I'm from the UK, so sadly they're just as rare here

  • Westland Scout AH.1 9.0 years ago

@Sharkie thanks for the upvote :D Glad to hear these are still going strong where you are! I'm just happy that these didn't end up on the scrap heap as so many similarly interesting aircraft did, and I think the Scout deserves much more admiration than it's been given over the years

  • UH-1 Iroquois (vietnam wars) 9.3 years ago

Can't download it sadly, but clearly a HECK of a lot of time and effort went into this which on its own deserves 5 stars in my mind :)

  • Ansaldo.A.1.Balilla.1918 9.3 years ago

    Splendid :D

  • Future of Flight 2 Gyrocycle 9.3 years ago

@drdoom222 thanks for rating :D I've tried, but it's been difficult as they tend to roll over on takeoff. I haven't tried it with wings though...

  • Future of Flight 2 Gyrocycle 9.3 years ago

Also it looks like the link in the description didn't work, but the film I was trying to mention was indeed Mad Max 2

  • Future of Flight 2 Gyrocycle 9.3 years ago

@Paradigmatical thanks for the rating :D I explained in one of the comments why I named it as such. Because it's based off the Gyrodyne RON Rotorcycle, I thought I'd collaborate the 2 halves of that name to come up with "Gyro Cycle"

  • Future of Flight 2 Gyrocycle 9.3 years ago

@PlanesOfOld tests so far have been promising I have to say. I've basically got a rotator to angle each rotor set at the exact same angle and a little distance apart. Also the rotors on one side point forward while those on the other side are rotated 90 degrees so they start off out of phase. So because one spins clockwise and the other anti-clockwise, they intermesh perfectly with every rotation

  • XVI Autogyro mk.1 9.3 years ago

Wow, I see what you meant! Very nice indeed :P

  • Future of Flight 2 Gyrocycle 9.3 years ago

    @PlanesOfOld will do :D

  • Future of Flight 2 Gyrocycle 9.3 years ago

@PlanesOfOld that's the problem. I would only choose to make a traditional Bensen type Gyrocopter with a single main rotor set and pusher propellor. Make it a co-axial/tandem layout and you may as well go all the way and make it a helicopter. I'm working on a synchropter layout to see if making a replica of a German Flettner machine would be possible, but I'm unsure so far

  • Future of Flight 2 Gyrocycle 9.3 years ago

@PlanesofOld thanks for the rating! My naming of it is only based off the name of the real aircraft that inspired it. Here's what I mean https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyrodyne_RON_Rotorcycle. I called it a "Gyrocycle" to kind of merge "Gyrodyne" with "Rotorcycle". Would have liked to have made a true Gyrocopter but it doesn't seem possible yet

  • Future of Flight 2 Gyrocycle 9.3 years ago

@Ctracerx2 well, time to raid some hostile factions for gas I suppose :P

  • Future of Flight 2 Gyrocycle 9.3 years ago

@Rohan haha ok. I hope there's not something fundamentally wrong with this for everyone but me...I'll see if I can upload a Kamcord vid to show how it's supposed to work

  • Future of Flight 2 Gyrocycle 9.3 years ago

@Rohan hmmm. Are you playing on low physics setting?

  • Future of Flight 2 Gyrocycle 9.3 years ago

    *gyrocopter

  • Future of Flight 2 Gyrocycle 9.3 years ago

@Jimbojet I'm glad someone picked up on that :D I would have made the Gyrocolter from the second film out of preference over this, but it seems the physics engine won't tolerate autorotation yet

  • Future of Flight 2 Gyrocycle 9.3 years ago

@Rohan thank! I've only tested it on low physics quality but after activating group 1, it should go pretty much straight up

  • Future of Flight Challenge! WINNERS ANOUNNCED 9.3 years ago

What the future will look like is a matter of opinion...

  • Helicopter Challenge 9.3 years ago

@FalaflesMan thanks! There may be more uploads on the way...

  • HeliFail 9.3 years ago

Just posted some suggestions, hope they help this thing work! It could fly with a little adjustment here and there

  • HeliFail 9.3 years ago

I'm maybe not in a position to judge here, but from my own experiences of making helicopters in this game, the best way to do it is to mount the VTOL nozzles on the tips of each rotor. Also make sure each rotor is attached to a rotator (controlled by throttle) with a maximum angle of about 15 degrees. The angle of the VTOL nozzle should not be adjusted during operation (activate it with group 6 or something to keep it out of the way). FINALLY...tweak the overall airframe to make sure the centre of balance is perfectly aligned with where the rotor assembly meets the airframe, and add lots and lots of RCS all over the place. Hope it helped! :D

  • CAV-5 Gannet (Modernised) 9.3 years ago

@Stingray thanks :D I've struggled with adding extra roll control since the entire airframe is relatively thin and there are now few places to place some extra RCN. I'll give it a go
