This is the most beautiful and most detailed X-02 model I’ve ever seen. Good work! I aspire to be a builder like this sometime in the future, so are there any tips you recommend?
@MrHoboDuck okay! So, for feedback:
.
- The wings are a bit too small for the plane. This can be deduced by it’s fairly high wing loading for such a small build, as well as it’s lack of maneuverability and tendency to “swing” when applying a pitch input. (For instance, my C-65 suffers from a similar issue due to its wing loading being around 95 lbs/ft^2, and therefore can pull crazy maneuvers, but struggles to keep itself up.)
- The power for the Wing area is too low. If you were to fix the wings, that would fix this issue. Otherwise, just do as is said in the Kerbal Engineering Doctrine: add more boosters (engines).
.
Other than that, seems like a pretty nice build. With time, you’ll learn to build like the platinum builders here (time not specified, as user experience depends on their learning experience).
@Squirrel In his defense, if he fixed the problem, should it not be replaced back as the new one? Also, in his wording in this forum post, there shouldn’t be the message of blaming a mod, explicitly or implicitly.
@Jim1the1Squid to prevent the issue of a message being taken wrong, try to think your words through 110% before posting.
@DSJ8Corporations
To those of you who were tagged here and below, you upvoted my old C-65. I learned it didn’t work as I wanted, so I tweaked it a bit. It’s essentially the same plane, but the landing gear should work better now.
Ace Combat is honestly the best inspiration for near-future to future realistic looking aircraft (at least for me). Like the ADF series, the CFA, and the XFA all look sweet, but also realistic enough to possibly work.
@jamesPLANESii @Awsomur or... just... take the missiles out?
I find it easy with a well-placed Fritz X, since the lasers don’t attack bombs that aren’t dropped from the fuselage they are attached to.
A cool craft so far, but I definitely see room for improvement. Have you thought of using rotators to move the canards? They can be a great way of gaining maneuverability.
Not a bad experiment! Here’s a few things I’d recommend:
- Yaw stability while performing High-G maneuvers is lacking, try making the vertical stabilizers bigger to counteract that.
- The Center of Mass seems a bit too far forward for this type of craft, try moving it back a bit. A little instability is welcomed in a craft meant to be maneuverable, but don’t overdo it.
- The shape is a little odd, but since it’s an experiment into this kind of craft it’s fine. Planes like this tend to have their wings a little further back, as well as their CoM. Just look at 5th generation fighter jets online (F-22, F-35, Su-57, J-20, J-31, etc) to learn a bit about the shapes.
.
Other than that, it seems like a good craft!
@TheJhonBR64 Okay. Also, try looking at our builds to build up your skill. Or look at other cool builds by better users to see how they build stuff! I’ve learned a lot in the time I’ve been here.
@randomusername That’s actually pretty ingenious if you ask me, though I like coming up with creative names for stuff I make. It takes longer, sure, but it gives you a little more of a feel for what it should be, if you get what I mean.
IL-2...
+1I’m screwed.

+1Wait... is this the fighter from Fortress?!
+1@MephilesTheDark Aye.
+1@randomusername I eagerly await for that day.
+1Very nimble and sleek.
+1@CruzerBlade that. Is. Genius.
+1@Chancey21 you definitely inspired me to do something similar (when I have much more time in the future)
+1@MrHoboDuck okay! So, for feedback:

Welcome to the community! I’m an iOS builder too, so it’s always great to see the potential of new builders.
+1Try building a high-speed Jet with stock parts (no mods or XML modded parts)
+1Long boi
+1Holy cow, that’s amazing. I wish to be an aerospace engineer in the future soon, so I hope you talk about your experiences!
+1Quite the cool plane! But it seems that the Yaw axis controls are inverted
+1@Noname918181 LMAO
+1Beautiful
+1We should rename it to the AC-65 Achilles (which was the old name of it, but it works even better now)

+12, 3, 4, or 6. Those seem like cool builds. Everything else is pretty cool too.
+1I’ve never ran into this problem, and I have a ridiculous amount of builds of varying quality. What is it for you?
+1I want that mod so bad, but I’m on iOS.
+1This plans has the thiccest brows.
+1*Spits drink *
+1*takes another sip *
*spits it again *
@JolyLoly Almost... I just like short stories in dialogue.
+1Though Imagine that happening in an Ace Combat game fighting against Yuktobania...
Funny thing is I was born on Thursday the 13th. Won’t say when (yet). @Jim1the1Squid
+1@Jim1the1Squid yep. Hey, you’re getting really close to gold.
+1I like to help people out, so I’ll sign up.
+1@ThePilotDude all I gotta say is this:

@jamesPLANESii @Awsomur or... just... take the missiles out?

@HarryBen47 In summary:

@Potkuri truer words have never been spoken.

+1TONK STRONK
+1@Strikefighter04 Zusammen auch XD
+1Congrats, dude!
+1Cute.
+1@Alta2809 No. I don't have the ability or skills to, unlike many windows builders.
+1@JolyLoly Same! I was looking at that first picture and I thought... well, just look at the quote. Lol
+1@Alta2809 Yeah, that’s fine! I figured that out lol

Ok, the flip wing design is freaking ingenious. Impractical in the real world, but freaking bad-a
+1I thought they were attached to each other lol.
+1@randomusername I take it you're not from the U.S. We just call it "bathroom" in the states. We are very simplistic people.
+1@TheJhonBR64 Okay. Also, try looking at our builds to build up your skill. Or look at other cool builds by better users to see how they build stuff! I’ve learned a lot in the time I’ve been here.

+1Two more: Daedalus and Icarus.
+1Also in school. Oh, and I’m kind of new here. Nice to meet you!
+1@ForeverPie
PUT IT ON MY VIGGEN
Not for this challenge, but for a joke post, lol.
