@Jim1the1Squid I know the Rodneys - the point is, even THEY have only three turrets, with the second one superfiring. This one have FOUR, with only the third one superfiring, which gave a distinctive silhouette of an armed freighter with turrets jutting out of anywhere that fits and anywhere that doesn't.
P.S. For some reason I just hate non-superfiring turrets (esp. two consecutive turrets on the same level), and I'm not a fan of the Rodney-class, either.

I have to say that the turret arrangement is... well... strange... (Yup, granted, it IS better than that of the Japanese Tone-class cruisers, but pretty much everyone is better by that regard)

Wright? Isn't that a military air base? Where is this even SUPPOSED to be placed in Wright? Also, awesome build.

Also you can use WNP78's Advanced Targeting MOD for lead aim the main gun, just in default bullet velocity settings. In other words, the speed of the bullet is exactly the speed of the shells? Also, nice use of the winches.

  • Building the perfect railgun 5.5 years ago

I once built one like that (with HE, guided AA, and guided AP rounds), then scrapped the entire project and deleted everything related to it both online and on my phone for it was a bit too laggy - not just "a bit", either. The other reason why I scrapped the project is that I hate it for having no recoil and/or muzzle flash.
P.S. That anime with "railgun" in its name have nothing to do with real-life railguns.

  • Terminal Building 5.5 years ago

@Ryn176 Wright seems to be a jet-age military airbase, so... Although granted, the terminal building at Yeager really should have this. Bandit seems to resemble a WWII-era airbase, and Avalanche seems to resemble an airport serving a research outpost in a remote location.

  • Orbid [Alpha] - Airborne Heavy Weapon Platform 5.5 years ago

Well... given that for small-angle approximation to work, there must be quite some difference between maximum thrust and maximum theoretical thrust (as in the maximum thrust the engines can possibly generate), is it possible to add another rotator to harness the extra thrust for boost/afterburner?

  • Douglas SBD Dauntless 5.7 years ago

@AerialFighterSnakes By the time the movie was made, flyable WWII Japanese planes are few; also, you need a LOT of flyable machines, and risking some of the only remaining ones won't be a choice.

  • Douglas SBD Dauntless 5.7 years ago

@jamesPLANESii Well, those American planes with their massive radial engines indeed look similar to each other... Especially since the cockpit of this thing is slightly longer than the more commonly seen production model, making it even more similar to the T-6 Texan/Harvard.

  • Railgun Prototype 5.7 years ago

Well, based on the description, this is NOT a railgun, as a railgun does not accelerate their shots using magnets and uses electrified rails to accelerate the projectile instead. A coil gun (also known as a gauss gun), on the other hand, uses a series electromagnets to accelerate a ferromagnetic projectile - exactly what your gun is supposed to be.

  • Suggestions needed! +Screenshots 5.7 years ago

Spefy! Good to see you again! For the question I would say lights and panels as always, and I think something similar to either the Wakerider or the Crimera would be helpful. Also, judging by the pictures, perhaps painting the fuselage darker and with better reflection would also be helpful. Afterall, although this craft is similar in style to the Wakerider, it should have its own style as well. Also, I don't quite consider hexagonal shapes would suit this particular craft that well - I think they work better on long, broad trapezoidal wings, as demonstrated by the Axiom of Luxury and the aforementioned Wakerider, but I'm quite sure a hexagonal paintjob sticks out like a sore thumb on a jet fighter with narrow wings.
TL;DR: A mix between the Crimera and Wakerider would be fine, but hexagons might have poor synergy with this craft. Also, paint it in a darker shade.

@WDRoosevelt Cool! BTW, when were those ships launched? Around the beginning of WWII, judging by the radar? Also, given their roles and shapes, I assume they are slower than their contemporaries, but better protected against both enemy gunfire and torpedoes?

  • Diligent-class Heavy Cruiser 6.0 years ago

Looks cool! Is this ship supposed to be half American and half British? The turrets, rangefinders, rear mast, and stacks looks quite American, but the bridge, fore mast, catapult, and secondary guns look somewhat British.
