    Nice fly-by-wire system.
    I think this plane really need thrust vectoring engine and it will be a master-class of a plane.

    @GRANDAYE
    Quick fix:
    Increase aggressiveness of the canards by increase range of motion to 60 and speed to 60%, it works for me but fine tuning is still needed.
    The nose down tendency is due to misalignment of the cockpit and main wings, this cause the FT to take the "misaligned" angle of attack into calculation.
    The real one does have that misalignment only in the wing root to counteract the wingtips that will bend backward inflight.
    To fix this problem I recommend you to make the cockpit block "look down" a bit to align with the main wing angle.
    Sorry for the long lecture lol, here's some potato.

    @Prowilliam476
    lol Thanks.

    @SimplyPlain
    I'm going to be honest with you, I do respect laws of physics and aerodynamics, that is the only way I know how to make planes in SP.
    For example, control surfaces move the opposite way when the air flows backward but thrust vectoring still go the right way because it is not depend on the direction of airflow. And when I initiate the stunt, the rudder fold down to let the aircraft lose all of it's yaw stability, normally aircraft without thrust vectoring enters flat-spin at this point but not mine.
    The point is that I'm bored of conventional flight control so I made an aircraft that can do post-stall maneuver, and certainly can fly with conventional control.
    I suggest that you should try building upon concept of post-stall maneuver and Supermaneuverability, at least it will open a whole new way of flying.
    But what you say is not wrong, I take advantage of super strong material and powerful engines in SP, otherwise this wouldn't be possible, irl the wing should be ripped apart lol.
    So.. sorry for disrespecting conventional flight control, no hard feelings.😆

    @SkyJayTheFirst
    That hidden stabilizer wouldn't count as truly tailless for me lol.
    The wings will flip up at only extreme speed I think, there will sort of act like wing but vertical instead of rudder by the look of it, because they still more or less at the front so I don't think it'll provide much yaw stability, it'll provide turning hard without roll first.

    +1
  • F-35B 'Lightning II' 1.1 years ago

    @SkyJayTheFirst
    Yea, tvc is a no no.
    The wings and canards angle seems to providing yaw stability but actually opposite, it'll act like small vertical stabilizer but in the front. (should I say vertical de-stabilizer instead lol)
    I did mention the B-2 style system but since there are no such airbrake or spoiler in the wings as far as I know, this option will be low on the list.
    Maybe I could jam the brake somewhere in the wing like Ho-229 since split-brake will not be a good design for wing that can flip.

  • F-35B 'Lightning II' 1.1 years ago

    @SkyJayTheFirst
    For now, what was in my mind is how to get some yaw stability for such a design.
    I'm thinking of using drag from one side of wing and counteract the rolling motion with canards and tail to achieve yaw stability since there are no wing spoilers present as far as I know.
    Doing ramjet is easy, I've equation for Mach value ready to go.
    Surely it'd take time, or might not be posted at all lol.
    You know me, I'd never build things half-a$$ed unless it's a test/proof of concept build.

  • F-35B 'Lightning II' 1.1 years ago

    @SkyJayTheFirst
    I said I know very little about it.
    I only know that it's wings can fold to a high degrees and it can switch between normal jet and ramjet engine.
    But in the mean time I watch some video about it and still doesn't fully understand it.
    And that make me wonder if I have to make the flight model from the ground up, not just any flight model but the model that utilize all of the wing folding and many other mechanics.
    If the wings has that high degree of freedom, I'd want it to move like canards and tail of this build at the bare minimum
    Trying to make sense of fictional plane is what I'm talking about and it is also very hard, you know?

  • Su-57 1.2 years ago

    @ToeTips
    That's a lot lol.
    But here goes.
    .
    .
    .
    Do the shape of wings truly make any difference?

    Fortunately, no.

    Does effecting the Scale of wings affect it? Cause the CoL was shifting

    I guess it isn't, there are many build with super small scaled wing and it fly fine, I think CoL shift because the position shift because of scaling.

    I see you didnt add wing parts to the trailing flaps of the F-22, i guess due to how lift works in the game?

    They are actually fake flaps, the real thing is control surfaces in the wings part, my F-35 actually had wings piece in it's flaps though.

    I guess realistic wing loading makes a craft more realistic in the game? Cause that is what i did for my latest build, although i can now make something even more realistic due to studying your Felon.

    Realistic wing loading is a big part of being realistic. It can make you feel the difference between glider, fighter, bomber and flying brick.

    Fuselage
    Where is the most ideal place to keep and remove drag?

    I remove all drag at first, then add drag for big piece of fuselage. Like main body and wings. I also use airbrake piece with Funky Tree to simulate high AoA drag.

    Rotors
    I just discovered the xml value damper multiplier by studing your nozzle inorder to make one for a build (it fully works and it moves like yours, although it is a bit off center in STOL mode). And also different builds have different levels of damper. Is this because of the strict PID controller?

    I use damper for it to move like an actual hydraulic but sometime it make the rotator too slow to react and make PID useless so I have to decrease damper as needed.

    FT
    Can you give a simple PID controller? Like just a bug standard controller, i would better understand it.

    Guess this help.

    I used to have more but i had them answered by studying you lol, i feel like i would have more though.

    Good luck.

    Feedback 3 : 30% fuel is oversimplified things don't you think? There will be
    more combinations of payload and fuel that don't exceeded the weight limit.
    But my plane is also oversimplified in a way, I match the thrust of the engine to the source and load the plane until it can't fly lol. (I skip safety for fun factor)
    That result in it having 3000 kg fuel and about 1300 kg weapons.

    Feedback 4 : I did exactly that, using cockpit altitude from ground, it just not fast enough I guess.
    If you keep pulling up while takeoff, those elevator won't deflect down as much and can be unnoticeable.
    Also, there is a super tight margin to calibrate the altitude to deflect those elevator down so this is as close as I can do it.

    @OrderlyHippo
    Activate AG1 will set the limit to 50, it's controllable but harder to fly.
    So judge for yourself how hard it is for limit of 30 because it'll be easier than 50.
    It's not that hard for me but it make me fly with 2 hands instead of 2 fingers lol.
    My signature trait of plane is how easy it is to fly so the limit of 15 is here to stay.
    Also, take a closer look at my flaperons, it both go with the airflow at high AoA so they will not stall and can still provide some roll authority at high AoA.

    @OrderlyHippo
    You were right, I just make the flight more fun so I intentionally left some hole in flight control.
    I think my hovering fcs doesn't resist wind well, yes it take ground coordinate for calculation but for some reason it can resist only light wind.
    But it resist crosswind pretty well in hover though.
    Also, I think going 1000 mph and full pitch will rip wings irl, so I try going about 400 kts (like the pilot mentioning in the vid) and that resulting in 16-18 sec horizontal loop which I think it is not bad for the heavier B variant. (as oppose to a lighter A variant in the vid)
