Potentially stupid question, but can the trainer aircraft/s be single seaters? Trying to fenagle a canopy into place, but getting it in place with two seats in tandem config is proving difficult 😅
Not a bad update to the airframe mate. Tempting to make a few alterations, especially to the gyro so that it is automatically disengaged at a flying airspeed. Possibly even change to a single barrel for the cannon.
She flies.well though, although landings are interesting due to the narrow wheelbase.
Okay, so a couple of things from me:
- Love the styling, it looks pretty good.
- Thrust Vectoring could use some work, as sudden or sharp pitch changes can easily end the jet into a spin. Maybe limit the thrust vectoring a bit or something?
@MrHoboDuck You say that, but look at how little attention the build garnered.
Problem is that this site feels... niché-y. If it ain't a replica or by an established builder... it seems to go by unnoticed. I have that problem, at least.
@Sadboye12 Thanks! It was a nightmare getting the wings to work reliably, every time I made certain changes it broke the variable sweep functionality. Glad you liked it.
I never got why the British helo designs like the Belvedere looked like something out of a Gerry Anderson program. Awesome looking helicopter, gotta say!
@Baldovino Not yet, I'll do that tomorrow and report back. Just saw the 1200+ count and thought "eek!" Then again it doesn't have to fly so I guess if I can load it in studio...
Having the Thunderbirds Theme playing in the background would be very appropriate, lining up those bombers at the base of a runway and jetting all four off the tarmac at once.
@Stormfur I've gotten my plane down to 1.32 at the moment consistent.
Play around with a design and see what works, then gradually tweak and improve. I mean, I'm on about my 15th version of the design I'm going to enter and I still have improvement work to do :)
@Stormfur I'm using props, kind of. Got 4 turbojets and a twin prop contra-rotating at the front. And they do make a difference as far as my testing shows.
@Stormfur but of course they are. I might have to tweak my modified P-51 a bit and give it some more oomph, teach these peasant vacuum cleaners something about flying.
Actually no! I'm going to make a hybrid! Muahahaha!
You can have an upvote from me but I HATE those things with a passion. Especially Northern's Class 156 and 158 fleet. And the dreaded Pacer, when it comes out to haunt the lines again...
@Minecraftpoweer Thanks for that fix, it no longer explodes on Cat launch. Now, it's deciding to explode/shatter the assembly on arrested landing, so I'm adjusting deceleration rates as I think that could be the issue.
@Shootingstar07 the JASDF bought- or were given- a fair number of Sabres to help defend against their neighbours China, the USSR and North Korea should the need have arisen.

Okay, this is pretty awesome. Definitely gonna have to try and use these on a build...

Not a bad build. I do have to query the use of miniguns rather than cannon but other than that, it's quite a nice, clean, simple build. :)

Anyway, pretty decent little flyer.
Should it not be a 109Z? 😛
Is it required that the entry is a replica? Nothing mentioned direct in the rules.
Ah, the Six Burning Four Turning.
Or, as it became known, Two Burning, Two Turning, Two Smoking, Two Choking, Two Unaccounted For. Nice build!
Quite helpful, just a little hard for me to keep up with in the "connect the rotators" part.
Rebuilding them all?
I've got a neat little project/build as the opponent in a Challenge coming up soonish.
@Tang0five correction, my friend.
The B.II was built at a time when the Merlin was in shorter supply and before Packard were making them under license.
If memory serves, the B.II was a stopgap that used radial engines.
From wiki: "The Lancaster B.II was a stopgap design that used Bristol Hercules engines..."
+2Nope nope nope nope nope.
Stay AWAY from my Lancaster and don't tell Gaijin! :P
Looks awesome bud!
+6MiG-28*
Seriously, nice and clean build!
Laughs in Concorde
Seriously slick looking build mate. Nice work! I may download later but not while on data :p
@MrHoboDuck You say that, but look at how little attention the build garnered.

*An unfortunate accident during a routine training mission. Isn't the the usual BS you use?
It's not like that this time, Tony...*
+1@erikfarmer Read the rules.
"Do not post unedited reuploads of other users' crafts."
@TheBoeingEngineer He said Overload was allowed and hasn't specified anything beyond that so... I'd go with a little up-armouring.
@Jim1the1Squid
There's a fair number of aircraft in reality with a similar design, take for example the McDonnell F-4 Phantom.
@SimpleScydra If it hasn't been modified in any way from his build, no, as that'd be against the site rules.
If possible, I'd consider making a Mod-Free version of this as well as some of us don't use or have the ability to use mods.
@CRJ900Pilot woulda been cool, but sadly no RAF or commonwealth markings worked like that, always Letter-Roundel-Letter-Letter :/
Just flicked back through the predecessors to this build. Very cool to see where your design has developed from to here, it honestly looks brilliant!
+2Me likey. Think I'll ditch the weapons and paint it red at some point ;)
+1Well deserved win mate. That thing was bloody unbelievable to watch!
+2Best of luck in the Tournament. Me and Baldovino are watching live right now and both of us are terrified of facing you!
+3I never got why the British helo designs like the Belvedere looked like something out of a Gerry Anderson program. Awesome looking helicopter, gotta say!
+1It looks like it came from a Gerry Anderson cartoon, like Thunderbirds or Captain Scarlet.
Beautiful!
+1@Baldovino Happy to report that it works on my phone, even in flight mode! Count me in!
+1@Baldovino Not yet, I'll do that tomorrow and report back. Just saw the 1200+ count and thought "eek!" Then again it doesn't have to fly so I guess if I can load it in studio...
+1Count me in, I have an idea or two for it...
EDIT: Maybe not, think this build will melt my phone .-.
Could you consider a mobile-friendly version of the challenge sometime please?
How do you get the ability to put the information etc on the screenshot?

@Jim1the1Squid the rules stipulate no weapons. And given the number of submissions, the Mod team don't have time to vet every last submission.
Simple, honestly.
EDIT- also, if it's the build from 11 days ago, it has been XML modded as well and as a result is ineligible for Unlimited Class races.
Find the Tournament Validator mod and run it if you want to check before you upload :)

ALL FRUIT BAT SCUM MUST DIE!
@Chingonito very well, nice job anyways :)
Decent replica, though personally I think the wingspan is a tad long and the outer chord could maybe use reducing. Otherwise pretty neat!
You can have an upvote from me but I HATE those things with a passion. Especially Northern's Class 156 and 158 fleet. And the dreaded Pacer, when it comes out to haunt the lines again...
@Tang0five I managed to get it somewhat working in the end through trial, error and swearing.
It doesn't like Low Physics though. As I have discovered to my horror...
My jaw just clanged through the floor! I've wanted to see or build one of these on here FOREVER! It looks Beautiful!
Would you have any objections with me taking her and respraying her in RAF Rescue Yellow?
@Minecraftpoweer Thanks for that fix, it no longer explodes on Cat launch. Now, it's deciding to explode/shatter the assembly on arrested landing, so I'm adjusting deceleration rates as I think that could be the issue.
+1@AchuTMM CATOBAR- Catapult Take Off Barrier Assisted Recovery
+1@Shootingstar07 the JASDF bought- or were given- a fair number of Sabres to help defend against their neighbours China, the USSR and North Korea should the need have arisen.
What maniac gives a Daimler RP-3s??
At any rate, awesome replica.
@metallicplanes I tend to prefer hiding on a cliffside and blindsiding them with my Puma. Soo satisfying!
