@bspboy Also, you don't need anything particularly crazy for this game, if you manage to get your hands on a decent laptop you'll be golden. which I understand would take time, I'm just saying tho.
Jet powered biplane, I just built one, haven't uploaded it yet but I do like how it turned out. Perhaps a prop plane with contra-rotating propellers, see any one of my prop planes for what that is. Maybe experiment with cockpits if you haven't (sorry, haven't really checked). All I got right now
Also, I realize this is a bit off topic and may not be the place to discuss it, but I wish that we had fewer lurkers (users who will download many a plane, but never leave comments or upvote). Please don't take this as me complaining about a lack of upvotes because I think my planes are "the bomb" (trying not to curse, kids use this site).
I share this want, and I believe you worded it quite well with your use of the term "overlay". This isn't something that would be on by default and would still keep the name of the game true. That said, if you take a look at the most successful (objectively speaking) planes that are submitted to this website, nearly ALL of them feature XML edited parts, whether they're 45' fuselages or tiny fuselages used for decals or antennae. The ability to do these things NEEDS to be in the game for the sake of keeping things simple (simple meaning no need to open up an XML file in NotePad++ and keep re-loading my plane)
Sorry if that got a little ranty, this is something I feel strongly about.
@ChaMikey While it would be crazy cool to put this on a plane, no, I'm now putting this minus the stars on my Erusean Air and Space Administration and Federal Erusean Air Force planes.
@ChaMikey Up to you really, I originally did it because I was basing my planes off of concepts, and it just kinda stuck, I wound up making a flag for it earlier so I guess I'm gonna stick with it for a while longer.
@ChaMikey The only way would be to emulate them with a program called PCSX2, which requires a pretty decent PC to run, suffice it to say I can't run it. What I did was buy a PS2 off of ebay and the games off of ebay or amazon, whichever happened to be cheaper. Back on the topic of PCSX2, just looked it up and the mac version hasn't been updated since 2012, sorry bud, wish I could help a bit more. EDIT: If you happen to own a Wii I highly recommend a game called Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces, it was made by Project Aces, the folks who make Ace Combat.
Also, some suggestions (sorry if these have been suggested before) to make these a touch better. Turn your horizontal stabilizers into "stabilators", which is to say, attach them to a rotator, set it to 15 degree range and pitch input. It should make a great plane even better.
@MaleticAirplanes That's what I wound up doing, I figured I'd ask anyhow because I don't really have scale editing experience. @Skua I thought that was the norm, maybe I need to hit the forums more often.
@Sutairs Nope, I named it that because of how, well, flippy it is. I likened it to a "butterfly" knife, more properly known as a balisong, as I'm sure you know. Also, thanks for the upvote @Madlycat
Very nice, I also appreciate that you put VTOL nozzles on the projectiles to give them spin as though they actually went through a rifled barrel, nice detail, plus it actually does increase their range.
@TehDuck @Thehtmguy @XxcreedexX @BlueHawk Since the lot of you commented here I figured I would tell you that I did get around to making a plane today, here it is.

@XxcreedexX That Flettner does remind me that I need to dabble with helicopters, I would like to some day make an AH-6 or perhaps see someone make one.
@Thehtmguy I can definitely agree with that, it has given me some good ideas in the past. @XxcreedexX Regarding prototypes, that's mostly what I do to be honest, I look up prototypes and concept art looking for something that really interests me (and seems feasible in SP [for me]) and go with that, but I'm coming up relatively dry today.
@KCferrari Yeah, I can certainly understand where you're coming from on the engines, I had originally experimented with using a VTOL engine to have a psuedo afterburner effect, mapped to an action key, but that didn't work out too well so I just upped the power, all for the sake of this being an "interceptor" EDIT: I should also mention that this started out in life with reverse gull-wings like those on an X-02 Wyvern
113, I'd go higher but I've only ever uploaded three of my planes. Excellent "pipe" by the way, it really does the old girl justice. EDIT: I was also wondering if you had any pointers for achieving such great maneuverability and stability, especially where pitch is concerned?
@Brields95 Oh, in that case it's still not the SE-5, unless the SE-5 is actually just a Suiga with two-props. I set this plane up like this because I wasn't satisfied with it's speed. Regardless of all of that it's nice to see another fan of The Sky Crawlers.
@Brields95 Is this stuff mentioned in the light novels or manga series? If so, I should look into them. Because I was trying to recreate the first plane you get access to in the Innocent Aces video game.
I would certainly like to see features like this added, especially considering that a number of my planes are supposed to have turbo/super charged engines.

Number 8 makes me wish I didn't dedicate myself to coming up with planes from scratch, well, mostly scratch. Otherwise good points.
@ChaMikey Up to you really, I originally did it because I was basing my planes off of concepts, and it just kinda stuck, I wound up making a flag for it earlier so I guess I'm gonna stick with it for a while longer.
I like the logo, very tasteful. And the plane is nice too of course.

@ChaMikey No problem man. Same here on the childhood bit, I've recently revisited them and repurchased the PS2 trilogy, good times.
@Wahoo12 Thank you very much.

Always great to discover more folks who love Ace Combat
+1<< Yo buddy, take a follow and an upvote >>
@Wahoo12 How do you go about formating a clickable link? Thanks btw
@SPS13 you too, upvoted before I had a chance to refresh
@Skua @TempestAviation Thanks for the fake internet points, seriously.
@Skua I think I got it alright, I dunno, take a look https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/6AQknR/FEAF-R-38-Swallow

Cool, an upvote, thanks @Sutairs
Hey! Thanks @Thehtmguy @TehDuck @SPS13

@XxcreedexX Fire away, I'm all ears right now.

Hey! More upvotes, thanks @Noman0rumeral and @PosteXen
Ayy, thanks for the quick upvotes @ChunderDownUndeR and @SPS13

<< Dead men's words hold no meaning >> This is pretty great, and that's putting it lightly.
@KCferrari Huh, I hadn't thought about the naming convention like that.
Very nice, I also like what you did with the name, AV-13, like AV-8, y'know the harrier.
This plane is a dream come true, @KCferrari I'm very happy to see that someone finally did this old legend justice.

@Brields95 Expect more planes now that I've gotten into the game.

@Mrwhiskers85 Thanks, I didn't think that it was going to work, but I tried it anyway and hey, it works.
