@ChiChiWerx yeah I think the top speed is about 1050mph in the real F-5. Since it's simpleplanes I cranked the engines up a little to go about 1600mph at around 25,000ft.
Well I've begun building. I'm 146 parts in and I'm not sure if my plane will fit this catagory very well. It's more of a cargo seaplane than a bush plane. It's looking something like a Grumman Goose with extending floats on the wingtips and the tail of a B-25.
@Leehopard Thanks! I try to keep my builds at a reasonable part count. When I started the build, I had no intentions of making it to scale and I'm regreting that now, though it is pretty proportional to the in game missiles if the Guardian is an AIM-9 and the Interceptor is an AIM-120. That tends to be the basis of scale for all my aircraft.
You can set the input of the light to "-LandingGear" instead of "LandingGear" so it's on when the gears are down. I think thats what most planes now have. Other than that I love it!
@MI I'll see what I can do but it'll have to wait as Im not home right now. From the looks of it we could probably turn the nose into the variant with the reconnaissance camera.
@JohnnyBoythePilot Thanks again! I made the EMP a short burst with a longer wait as it got too laggy too fast but it sorta makes sense that there's a cooldown. Glad you enjoyed.
@ChiChiWerx Realistically, I don't think it would be getting enough airflow to the engine. I don't know enough about the topic to be certain but it sure does look sleek and it works in simpleplanes. so I'm happy.
@Minecraftpoweer Why not build a simple structure with air to air on one side and air to ground on the other. maybe blue and green to tell the difference.
I somehow managed to hover this plane. Nice work on the thrust vectoring as it's a tricky thing to get working. I recommend adding roll control in them too. Just nudge those rotators. Remember, with thrust vectoring, a little movement is a lot, it's easy to stall.
I like making my own tailhooks. maybe this mod should also add a block that fits on the end to work with the arresting wire. Similar to the air refueling mod and the ability to make you're own refueling probe.
@ChiChiWerx thanks! I wasn't sure about the single engine either. I was going to give it two under wing engines but the one in the middle just looked so streamlined.
@Sgtk I'm not sure how well this fits the catagory of "Short Haul" but it's something I've wanted to build for a while and it seemed to work for this challenge.
Well I was planning on building the Boeing 2707-200 SST which is a beautiful supersonic airliner concept of the 60s but I don't think it fits the criteria of performing "Short haul flights" so maybe I'll build a mini version? @Sgtk How will you be judging the ammount of passengers? is it just a guess based on the size?
@ThingThatFliez You should be able to land at around 180mph. You may want to lay off on braking till you're fully on the ground. I also play at High Physics so that may have something to do with it.
@Tang0Down I built this as a very slight variation of my F/A-18C Hornet which I packed
as many features as I could into. I'm planning on making a Super Hornet soon. The tricky part is the intake shape as it may be hard to replicate.
@Tang0Down Thanks! if you have some sort of XML mod you can set inputs to "Activate1" through "Activate 8" to make toggleable controls. I never liked having to press a button, slide the VTOL, then press the button again and once I learned how I'm never going back.
@Minecraftpoweer do you have steam? I think it would be easier to communicate there instead. I'm Greasy Tortle or greasytortle on steam with the same profile picture as here.
@SkylineAero oh is that an Ace Combat reference? I only played AC5 That's how I first heard of the F-5.
@jamesPLANESii Well it's probably greasy.
@jamesPLANESii Thanks! It took me all day to make.

I'm excited to see what comes of this!

@Texasfam04 Thanks. Right now there's only one entry to the challenge. You've made some pretty nice things. are you going to have a try at it?
@mikoyanster Thanks! I'm excited for the part two. I'd like to see how my Super Sabre holds up.
@mikoyanster I can't seem to open the video. It says it's unavailable.
@MI I'll see what I can do but it'll have to wait as Im not home right now. From the looks of it we could probably turn the nose into the variant with the reconnaissance camera.
What's the part count limit and rewards?
@JohnnyBoythePilot
@TheGigaByte I made its VTOL engine as a challenge to build an F-35. You might be able to retrofit it to this plane.
@marcox43 It handles really well. I I do like that you've slimmed the wings down in the newer varients.
@marcox43 I'll try it out when I get home. Did you fix the colors? I know on MP you were playing around with that.
@breitling Why not make more?
Did I see you testing this in Multiplayer the other day?
Nice! Flys so much better than my F-15. I need to make a new one.
@JohnnyBoythePilot Thanks again! I made the EMP a short burst with a longer wait as it got too laggy too fast but it sorta makes sense that there's a cooldown. Glad you enjoyed.
Sequenced gear doors! I just scrap them all together and have my gears merge into the plane. I'm definatly going to look into this though.
@ThingThatFliez How fast are you landing it? also are you playing on Mobile or computer?
WnOiWce
@Minecraftpoweer I'm about to test it now :D
@Minecraftpoweer I guess just make two uploads then?
@ChiChiWerx Realistically, I don't think it would be getting enough airflow to the engine. I don't know enough about the topic to be certain but it sure does look sleek and it works in simpleplanes. so I'm happy.

That has got to be the strangest rudder design I've seen but I love it.
I thought this was the model on the mods page then I saw the part count. Excellent attention to detail!

I vote yes.
I approve.
@JohnnyBoythePilot What do you think?
@BroAeronautics heres my Super Hornet. I just released a Growler too.
None of the above, Build a boat!

Hey! Link! Listen!
@PyrusEnderhunter as a Chicagoan I must say it is and always will be the Sears Tower.
RIP Steve-o. He went over a small bump and lost the lower half of his body.
I really like the camera view beside the cockpit.
@Tang0Down The Russian F-22 or the SU-47 with the forward swept wings?
@Tang0Down I built this as a very slight variation of my F/A-18C Hornet which I packed
