on second thought, if you plan to make an interior, how about making some kind of a cargo airplane like c-141 or il-76, so we can make some kind of a car to fit inside? or may be, AN-22? love propellers
Well, would be interesting. I like this plane. But it will be slow, its wings are very complex (well like any boeings wings are))) Its a pity, they are very similiar to cv 880 i'm making now, but as the swept angle is a lot smaller in case of 767, it wont be possible to use em directly...
I think its a bit too long) but seems totally great. I'm very glad to see somebody make wings with realistic profile and flaps like i do usually)) only wish you've made them flexible.
P.s. just started on tu-114 too. It's my favourite airliner
@ChiChiWerx Well, i still make them) Just because they do still affect the game (for example drag increase is really noticeable) and because they make models look a lot better. Here s the latest for example: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/E3O7xD/017-cv-880-0-4
i would have done with flaps.
X-plane is a hardcore flightsim, a competitor for MSFS. it's very realistic and instead of having the statistical model of a plane aerodynamics, it takes it as a body and actually dynamically calculate the airflow around the model, like a virtual wingtunnel, it actually gives the realistic effect of flaps and slats. Unity which is the engine simple planes use, can do the same by default. But this is not used in game, the calculate the wing's lift as a simple function of area, angle of attack and speed, thats it.
I've tried connecting flaps and stab, but it is very difficult to tune ingame, because the relation is not linear, it debends on at least the airspeed, not mentioning angle of attack and thrust. In real planes that is calculated by a flight computer or at least some kind of analog calculator
@BogdanX if you want wings that do not bend, change their type in xml to wing-2. But i like bending wings. Thats realistic. Just make 3 segments so they bend more realistic
@ChiChiWerx it is still of no practical use ingame unfortunately. The planes still lift of almost just as good without flaps (at most i've seen 5-10 mph difference in take off speed). I've made lots of tests - both on a flying boat and on my normal tu-124 plane. The latter case - i've used Gyrococpit on high power settings to hold my plane always on the same angle of attack on the take off, gyro cockpit eliminated the difference in that how easy it is to pitch the nose up. And yes, flaps add a bit of a lift. But definitely less than real slotted flaps. They simply omit that sloted flaps normalise the air flow behing the flap and curve the whole airflow of the wing down, which not only increase lift, but also delays stall. Obviously, flaps that are just small separate wings, as they are seen by the game, have no effect on stall, at least the positive one. I wish that the dev switch to the real airflow calculations, as Unity actually allows... BTW, X-plane works that way, they really calculate the airflow around the whole plane regarding its shape and current configuration
@ChiChiWerx Well, Flaps actually do cause lift increase in SP, but less then real due to simplified calculations (they treat flaps as a small separate wing at high angle of attack, omiting the overall aerodynamic effects.) I've noticed that when playing with my flying boat, when you deploy flaps it notisably rises from the water and start gaining speed. And flaps on real planes, especially with high swept angle, do really pitch the plane down at the same time. That is usually corrected by stabiliser adjustment on most planes even from 1960s
@F104Deathtrap it does explode sometimes when put into really sharp turn. But i think its ok) 190 tonn plane is not ment to fly like a fighter) Anyway, before exploding, it starts making some shrieking noises, just like i thing a real one would make at the edge of breaking))
p.s. feel free to use any parts from my planes. It would be interesting to see what others can do) write me if something doesnt work)
@LatteCoffee55 well, its not difficult to install mods. Interesting, can you upload a creation with mods and just link to a mod in the description? Or it wont upload at all?
@F104Deathtrap well, thats strange about the turrets)
Well, the wings are more curious. Inner wing panels are normal wing-3 panels, 4 each side. But they are interconnected on 1 wing joint and 2 side rotators with 0 degrees. They are to make wings overall less flexible and stop rotating around wing axle. This made flaps stop "flaping" up and down whenever wing flexes and stopped aileron reversal (real life problem when you roll one side, but the wing bends changing angle of attack and make plane rotate another side, i was amused when met it in the game). And fuselage segments for the wings are independently connected to wing segments, they do not connect each other. Also i had to make outer flaps section be able to slide sideways along the wing trailing edge so they dont mess with wing flexing when deployed.
@F104Deathtrap trial and error))) flaps like that i've made before, but its the first with a long section on a flexible wing. They can also actually slide sideways along the wing when it flexes) thanks!
@LatteCoffee55 Well, not exatly, but it will be useful. I mean, i a way of mod. Scaling down a turboprop so that its body fits inside whatever needed is what i do now, but i dont like it
@F104Deathtrap well, all the turrets are already at 0,001 mass))) i tried 0- but it seemed that made it more shaky, may be it doesnt understand 0 mass.
Well, its not that fictional actully. Not many know that tu-160 was initially designed by Myasichev bureau, but later the project was transfered to Tupolev, officially due to lack of resources of Myasichev company, but as well due to Alexey Tupolev's son (that became a company CEO at a time) having a lot more connections with government and politicians. Also, Vladimir Myasichev, being quite elderly, suffered some serious health issues about the same time and has died soon afterwards.
@BaconEggs Agree about some minor flaws, Actually thought of modifying gear and controlls a bit to my personal taste)) I've found a nice way to make gear doors that open and close each time landing gear is retracted or deployed. Check my tu-104 upd.2 . this would work fine with 747. Didnt knew you took part. This design and amount of work and time spent is incredible despite any flaws!
@Lightflight i made a 4 engined before) i can upload it. Btw, i recommend downloading gyrocockpit mod, it makes it a lot easier to control, i can also upload a version for the mod
@ChiChiWerx it did indeed) thats what i've ment by landing gear glitch. I finally solved it. First, instead of making a single shockabsorber strut xml modded to 75 strengh, i ve made several struts rated 15 (in the same coordinates, with collisions off, otherwise they explode)))) that helped, but not completely (glitch still appeared ocassionally). And just this weekend i found a final solution - xml edited wheels to a very low side and front traction, around 0.1). I can tweak your one if you send it to me.
@PaderiegeZ or may be An-70 can be interesting
Ok, just make it 1:1 scale, ill start the wings.
I'll try making a template for a fuselage diameter today if i can
It ls possible, that i will be able to adapt it for a c-141. And i like how it looks. But hollow fuselage will be difficult to shape
in case of a cargo plane, i doubt we'll find one. Let me think and do some research )

@PaderiegeZ why not, if you have some patience) i've been overloaded with work recently... What do you suggest to make?
Btw, turboprops dont need airbrakes, they use props in 0 position for that
I think its a bit too long) but seems totally great. I'm very glad to see somebody make wings with realistic profile and flaps like i do usually)) only wish you've made them flexible.

Proportions are WAY OFF... fuselage is a lot wider, tail is a lot bigger

looks nice!
Haha)) In reality it only carried several old small caliber guns, like 105mm))
totally like the cockpit and fuselage, but honestly, do not really like the wings so far...
Like the design. Maybe except for landing gear.
@F104Deathtrap it does explode sometimes when put into really sharp turn. But i think its ok) 190 tonn plane is not ment to fly like a fighter) Anyway, before exploding, it starts making some shrieking noises, just like i thing a real one would make at the edge of breaking))

@F104Deathtrap well, REWs b747 is pretty similiar actually
@LatteCoffee55 cool, than i probably will upload some planes with gyrococpit and smoke trails from the engines)
@Deadly8Nightshade ok))))
Waffentr-A-gger, isnt it?)
@LatteCoffee55 well, its not difficult to install mods. Interesting, can you upload a creation with mods and just link to a mod in the description? Or it wont upload at all?

@REW try redusing weight to all mowing parts, like to 0.00000000001. Setting to 0 seems to do nothing
@LatteCoffee55 Yeah, i know) But i do not like such "partial" solutions)
@LatteCoffee55 Well, not exatly, but it will be useful. I mean, i a way of mod. Scaling down a turboprop so that its body fits inside whatever needed is what i do now, but i dont like it
@LatteCoffee55 )))) Anyway, the tank is great!
@LatteCoffee55 doesn it seem to be normal for a tank?)))
Damn, i like !
@F104Deathtrap well, all the turrets are already at 0,001 mass))) i tried 0- but it seemed that made it more shaky, may be it doesnt understand 0 mass.
@MrSilverWolf judging how it works - it will surely work on a plane. Lets whait for REW to increase the numbers)
@aircraftarsenal123 i thought, but decided it wont be accurate overall and will be really difficult to tune... well, never try - never know)
@F104Deathtrap thats what i thought about. But we still need an altimeter...
@F104Deathtrap sure) not exactly faster, the're just fine, but less shaky - totally)
@GhostHTX FYI, thats more or less how the myasichev original project should have looked like:

@BaconEggs , the oroginal is not nice! Its bloody awesome)))) i think it is the best plane on the site so far)
@Pokemo90 yet, it is still polite to ask his permission first
@zap210 congrats!
Looks nice. But while a330 is long, it is nowhere near THAT long)))
This is bloody awesome!
@Lightflight i made a 4 engined before) i can upload it. Btw, i recommend downloading gyrocockpit mod, it makes it a lot easier to control, i can also upload a version for the mod
@ChiChiWerx Sure)
@NativeChief1492 I've finally uploaded mine yesterday)

Ahh, dammit, i forgot the camera for the bombardier view in the nose(((
