You seem to want some reasoning, so I'll oblige with some criticism. Don't take offence. Personally, your planes are not of great interest to me because of their simplicity, and i'm sure many others have the same reasoning. You make a good clean plane, but at the end of the day it's too simple. You say that they're basically foolproof and can be flown by children. That's a testament to good flying characteristics, but it has no charm in it. I like a plane that has a few kinks, as well as features that may be hard to use, but very rewarding if you can use it. I'm a massive fan of low speed supermaneuverability and vtol. Kids will crash it and I know it. However, I find it very fun to master. You also say you won't post useless showpieces. I agree with you in some accounts, as many of those are entirely artificial in their flight. It's just a great model that flies with brute force. However, I feel that a beautiful model with perfect flight and features is the ultimate goal. Wasted parts count is no good, but there's a happy medium, and yours come off as too easy. I look at them and say - meh, I could build that easily. I'm after things that I CAN'T build, or would take a great deal of effort. Anyway, I hope this perspective helps you.
What's the point of a no xml challenge if you allow fine tuner...? so... no xml, but you can use xml? Fine tuner changes engine power and allows rescaling and all that stuff, which defeats the entire purpose. This is literally a challenge to just make a regular plane, of which there's thousands of.
@Chevygmoney If a plane feels unresponsive and slow to turn, it needs better balance. (closer CoM and CoL) If a plane feels responsive but sloppy, It's balanced but could use more lift. If a plane is tightly responsive but slow, it has plenty of lift but is unbalanced. From what you said, it sounds like its balanced but needs more lift. Try larger main wings to lower that lbs/sqft wing loading. A loading under 50 should easily be enough on a balanced plane
@Pointlessjaymod Well the main airframe is done. It flies well and can VTOL reliably, and has all the fancy moving parts it needs. It basically needs an interior, exterior trim and details for realism, and some proper landing gear. I'll probably finish it tomorrow unless the interior gives me problems
@Pointlessjaymod If you read the description of it in Infinity, you would know it is in fact a VTOL jet. Theres even development pics
and thanks, it's as close to the actual shape as possible, since I'm building it right over the model straight from Assault Horizon, so everything should be scale and correct. It's taking forever lol
@BlackEmperorDragon idk man, that's out of the scope of the subject here. This brilliant quote only deals with death as a result of being killed, but it should also be known that people can be killed so hard they die to death. Its a complicated thing.
Well its fun to destroy if you have the firepower :D @Vinceinovich Ramming an aircraft carrier? That's easy.. My test is to fly through the bridge trusses through and across at max speed XD
i just hate when I can't actually put the intake in the actual intake if the plane, despite the fact that there should be tons of airflow there. Oh well, the drag system isn't perfect. Stick it some place on the fuselage where no one will notice and call it a day XD
I love everything about this. The interior is sexy, the rippled wings add great texture, and on top of all that, it actually flies well too! Awesome work, favorited.
Much better than the concept :D The wings dont fly off! Flies a lot better overall, but the model needs some improvement, and you really need to hide those vertical stabilisers. Also paint it lol
There's a reason I haven't built an X-02 yet.. It's everything that's wrong with this lol. Kudos for trying though. I feel you'll have better success if you make the wings out of fuselages, then embed wing surfaces in them. They should be a lot stronger. Also theres the problem that since the folded wings are reversed and cant actually disappear, you're getting reverse airflow and more drag when they're folded than when theyre extended... Unfortunately we cant disable wing physics on the go
Welcome back to SP \o/
Everyone has far higher standards nowadays, so be prepared to up your game a LOT. There's all sorts of new goodies that everyone has already mastered so you might have some catching up to do :P
Make a huge futuristic airborne aircraft carrier that can launch little planes that you can fly.. or maybe something little easier. I didn't even celebrate my ranks at all lol.
Thank you good sir, for making a post that isn't retarded. I actually DIDN'T feel like jumping off the nearest bridge after reading this! As you can probably tell, I'm personally getting bored of all that dramatic garbage clogging up the forums. Raise awareness! Together we can cure the SP cancer.
@traindude48 unfortunately with this, I wont have the convenience of being able to change the wing angles when it doesn't work at all XD I have to make do with this untested crazy anime style shape that may or may not be completely unstable as a VTOL. This better work perfectly or i'll be sad lol
@traindude48 They're always fun, but the real issue is getting good VTOL characteristics on a complicated jet that may have weight and drag imbalances. This thing has moving wingtips and the whole rudders even move. Just hoping this doesn't become a nightmare of endless balancing, just for it to end up flying like a toaster made of lead. :P
@Johndfg I Sure can :P @traindude48 Yea I love VTOL's too, but too many people have made F-35s and Harriers for me to bother with those, so I think this might be the one
@Pointlessjaymod @ChaMikey Enjoy :D
@Pointlessjaymod had it uploaded for a sec, but i immediately noticed an issue.. wont be long
@ChaMikey @Pointlessjaymod Almost done, Adding final touches :) There's a few more final pics for u guys
@Pointlessjaymod Well... uhh... runs away
@ChaMikey @Pointlessjaymod Soon™ :D
Lol.
So weird yet so cool

This should be cool

@RedstoneAeroAviation just crossed the 300 part threshold :D Rip mobile

@Pointlessjaymod sorry, I don't do tiny detailed things like that
@BlackEmperorDragon idk man, that's out of the scope of the subject here. This brilliant quote only deals with death as a result of being killed, but it should also be known that people can be killed so hard they die to death. Its a complicated thing.
"People die if they are killed.." - Shirou Emiya
@Vinceinovich Oh, sometimes I just keep going.. until I clip a wing and this happens
Well its fun to destroy if you have the firepower :D @Vinceinovich Ramming an aircraft carrier? That's easy.. My test is to fly through the bridge trusses through and across at max speed XD

@RedstoneAeroAviation sitting at 200 parts now.. this thing isnt gonna be mobile friendly lol
@Airwolfpiskin Yea i know what you mean. I have a big build on the way, its a long way off from done, but I cant help but post pics XD
I love everything about this. The interior is sexy, the rippled wings add great texture, and on top of all that, it actually flies well too! Awesome work, favorited.
Very nice

@SimpleFlow because your stuff is nice and flies smoothly in a realistic sort of way, which is what I like :D
Great plane, very nice to fly around. Feels big and heavy, but can still turn when you need it to

@Pointlessjaymod Thanks ^^
@RedstoneAeroAviation Well its not that hard to guess over 100 XD

I'm Canadian. Heheheh.. suckers :P
Pretty cool looking! Seems to really blend into the background in its pics though.. I scrolled by it several times XD
Absolutely gorgeous. Definitely your best work
perfect replica, 10/10
Awesome design on this thing
Very detailed, nice work
@RedstoneAeroAviation yea its already over 100 for just the main section of the fuselage
Added another pic :D
@SkullHunter29 Thanks :D
Hm.. This would be a nice option actually
hmm..
I'll take 10.

@Johndfg it's a ripped .obj mesh from assault horizon loaded into Unity, then converted into a game part via mod tools
KC is the name of one of my pets. Also Ferraris are pretty cool. :D
Great song, I need to add a 10hr version to all my playlists.
