  • Inter-War Fighter Challenge [Open] 4 months ago

@CheckOneTwo can be heavy fighters as well, as long as it’s a 20s or 30s design

  • Inter-War Fighter Challenge [Open] 4 months ago

Due to a prior engagement the due date is extended to August 31st, allows for more time to make better builds

  • Inter-War Fighter Challenge [Open] 4 months ago

@Rayquaza4590 like you made a plane that’s not from the download?

  • bee 2000 or something 4 months ago

I’d say to try again with something that’s not a shape from the board, it’s just to represent a biplane and a monoplane, could look up fighters from the 20s or 30s and make your own from it, have fun with it

  • Icarus Air Co. EWR-3 Peregrine 4 months ago

@Seeras could you please make this post a successor of https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/0g3zHH/Electronic-Warfare-and-Battlefield-Awareness-Program-AWACS-Challenge?showAllComments=true#comment-4734501(link)

  • [CLOSED] Electronic Warfare and Battlefield Awareness Program (AWACS Challenge) 4 months ago

@CallsignGizmo ok sounds good, thanks for the tip as well

  • [CLOSED] Electronic Warfare and Battlefield Awareness Program (AWACS Challenge) 4 months ago

@CallsignGizmo I don’t know why it didn’t make it a successor since I downloaded and made it from that, but here is the link: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/x62858/Icarus-Air-Co-EWR-3-Peregrine
If anyone knows a way to make it a successor that’ll be great

Good flier, does pitch down but it’s a good speed for the time, cockpit is nice, an opening canopy would help a little more, and some cowl flaps or openings for radial engine, but still good

Flight is a little wonky, the yaw axis swings a bit in high maneuvers, but really detailed, especially the ejecting cases, and not many Czech designs out there either which is unique.

@Shebke as long as it can run on my phone is all that matters, my builds usually go up to the 400 mark so it should be fine

  • Inter-War Fighter Challenge [Open] 4 months ago

@Kenzar Oh what a shame, well still got time if you finish your plane soon haha

  • Inter-War Fighter Challenge [Open] 4 months ago

@Kenzar like designed and built in 1940 or a design from earlier and is a model from 1940?

  • Inter-War Fighter Challenge [Open] 4 months ago

@Hahahahaahahshs hopefully you do, the more the merrier!

  • Inter-War Fighter Challenge [Open] 4 months ago

@Rayquaza4590 it is automatically shown on this if you downloaded it and built it from the download

  • Inter-War Fighter Challenge [Open] 4 months ago

@TheRealGoober yeah hopefully it interests enough people

  • Lauser - A1 "Pondskater" 5 months ago

@Lauser usually the default scale is good, but if you use the mirror item tool and change the gauges, but I would look up cockpits from the era you’re trying to replicate and see what gauges are located where, but you could experiment too, have fun with it

  • [CLOSED] Electronic Warfare and Battlefield Awareness Program (AWACS Challenge) 5 months ago

@CallsignGizmo well the current models don’t have one, the E-2 hasn’t had IFR capabilities since it was originally produced, that model is more of a proof of concept if it is feasible

  • [CLOSED] Electronic Warfare and Battlefield Awareness Program (AWACS Challenge) 5 months ago

@MartinByrde @CallsignGizmo should look at the E-2 Hawkeye with fueling probe prototype, looks like a flying narwhal

  • Lauser - A1 "Pondskater" 5 months ago

@Lauser I just started with using a hollow fuselage and open it on top and put a basic or modern cockpit as necessary and building the cockpit from there, after doing that a few times then can start making your own cockpits, just takes practice

  • Lauser - A1 "Pondskater" 5 months ago

@Lauser oh I’m mobile based too haha, I sucked at first too but after getting a hang of it you start to really get into it, making wackier and crazier things

  • Wright Island XNR-2F Cormorant 5 months ago

@WinsWings thank you, I try to put as much of my experience around aircraft into my builds as possible. And no worries!

  • OS8L Haggler 5 months ago

If you’re willing to take a few pointers, the biggest thing is the ailerons are always outside of the flaps, also need to invert the left side VTOL control or else it will deflect the flaps in different directions

  • Lauser - A1 "Pondskater" 5 months ago

I like the colors and cool details, especially the exhaust and the unique wing design, guess really the only way to improve it is by having a VR capable cockpit honestly, but it’s fun to fly

  • Wright Island XNR-2F Cormorant 5 months ago

@WinsWings and @TheMouse you guys are awesome, thanks so much

  • Wright Island XNR-2F Cormorant 5 months ago

@Sockdragger appreciate the kind words, yeah the game is makes it really difficult to get a good seaplane I find, so I kinda got used to the flight quirks it has. But yeah I try adding as much detail as I can, basically watch inside cockpit videos to get inspiration on how to make the inside

  • [CLOSED] Electronic Warfare and Battlefield Awareness Program (AWACS Challenge) 5 months ago

@CallsignGizmo I always build them since I feel they don’t lag

  • [CLOSED] Electronic Warfare and Battlefield Awareness Program (AWACS Challenge) 5 months ago

Do you have any markings/roundels for the fictional country?

  • SchArCo NR-4F Petrel 5 months ago

@Kenzar appreciate the rating, looks like there’s room for improvement, see if I have time to make another one

  • SchArCo NR-4F Petrel 5 months ago

@Valiant2017 Constructive criticism is always welcome, but yeah the rear alignment of everything was basically so it could actually lift up from the water, took me a few days to actually get it to work haha. Then the turret sensitivity is because it keeps the camera centered, if it was lower the camera would be off centered the farther you go from center, it’s kinda a thing to get used to, but thank you for the feedback

@Alternation could try a Loire 130, there’s not one on here I could find and it’s pretty cool too

https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/Lfa2PX/Die-Hummel To download my entry to test your aircraft against

  • 1930s challenge (ClOSED) 1.8 years ago

@McChezborger I have an idea for an attack aircraft, but might not be able to have the speed or bomb load requirements because it’s a dive bomber

  • Billingsworth Bubbleback Mk.I 1.8 years ago

@McChezborger thanks for the great rating, I kind of got lazy with the cockpit a little bit, couldn’t think of what could go in it without making it look too modern

  • 1930s challenge (ClOSED) 1.9 years ago

@McChezborger I will try something, the interwar period is my favorite

  • 1930s challenge (ClOSED) 1.9 years ago

I think most fighters in the 1930’s usually had 4 MGs, especially German and Japanese ones, so could the MG requirements be loosened for builds like that?

  • Kawasaki Ki-64 1.9 years ago

Got to love the unique ones, also the props were different, the front one was a constant speed and the rear one was constant pitch, just to make it even weirder

  • Gigachad challenge (canceled) 1.9 years ago

@FirstFish83828 so should we not put the name of the unsimplified vehicle in the name of our entry?

  • Mitsubishi A8M Komome 1.9 years ago

@Farewellntchii thank you, thought it would be an interesting alternate history

  • Nakajima Ki-47 Rakurai 2.0 years ago

@NavalCG thanks, was kinda difficult to not make it look like just a P-47 in Japanese colors, but I think I have a good blend of the two

  • Radial Engine Challenge [CLOSED] 2.0 years ago

Thank you to the participants, I will test and evaluate the aircraft and have rankings out soon.

  • Radial Engine Challenge airplane 2.1 years ago

Good simple design, would like a little story in the description, like the origin of the plane and all that

  • Mayhem Express Fighter 2.1 years ago

Really nice radial engine, and awesome back story too, and also not unrealistic for the perceived era it represents

    +2
  • R-1 Dertor 2.1 years ago

Overall good looking design, but you are supposed to build the cylinders of the engine and not use the base one on the game. But still like it

  • Radial Engine Challenge [CLOSED] 2.1 years ago

@Hannyboy you can have 3 entries

    +1
  • Radial Engine Challenge [CLOSED] 2.1 years ago

@PapaKernels yeah everyone does that, but I love watching the pistons spinning on rotary engines and how loud they are from a lack of an exhaust, since you can’t have one really when the piston is spinning a couple hundred revolutions per minute

    +2
  • Radial Engine Challenge [CLOSED] 2.2 years ago

@PapaKernels the Wankel engine and the rotary engine I’m talking about are really different, something like the Le Rhône, Überosel U9, Gnome engines of WWI

    +1
  • Radial Engine Challenge [CLOSED] 2.2 years ago

@LieutenantSOT if you can make it look like a conceivable thing go ahead, sounds like a really cool and creative concept

    +2
  • Radial Engine Challenge [CLOSED] 2.2 years ago

@Sakorsky just the look of the engine, like the pistons and crank case and all that, so you can use a normal engine with prop for power but have to make your own engine around it
