I’d say to try again with something that’s not a shape from the board, it’s just to represent a biplane and a monoplane, could look up fighters from the 20s or 30s and make your own from it, have fun with it
@Seeras could you please make this post a successor of https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/0g3zHH/Electronic-Warfare-and-Battlefield-Awareness-Program-AWACS-Challenge?showAllComments=true#comment-4734501(link)
@CallsignGizmo I don’t know why it didn’t make it a successor since I downloaded and made it from that, but here is the link: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/x62858/Icarus-Air-Co-EWR-3-Peregrine
If anyone knows a way to make it a successor that’ll be great

3/5 Something interesting to me

Good flier, does pitch down but it’s a good speed for the time, cockpit is nice, an opening canopy would help a little more, and some cowl flaps or openings for radial engine, but still good
@Lauser usually the default scale is good, but if you use the mirror item tool and change the gauges, but I would look up cockpits from the era you’re trying to replicate and see what gauges are located where, but you could experiment too, have fun with it
@CallsignGizmo well the current models don’t have one, the E-2 hasn’t had IFR capabilities since it was originally produced, that model is more of a proof of concept if it is feasible
@Lauser I just started with using a hollow fuselage and open it on top and put a basic or modern cockpit as necessary and building the cockpit from there, after doing that a few times then can start making your own cockpits, just takes practice
@Lauser oh I’m mobile based too haha, I sucked at first too but after getting a hang of it you start to really get into it, making wackier and crazier things
If you’re willing to take a few pointers, the biggest thing is the ailerons are always outside of the flaps, also need to invert the left side VTOL control or else it will deflect the flaps in different directions
I like the colors and cool details, especially the exhaust and the unique wing design, guess really the only way to improve it is by having a VR capable cockpit honestly, but it’s fun to fly
@Sockdragger appreciate the kind words, yeah the game is makes it really difficult to get a good seaplane I find, so I kinda got used to the flight quirks it has. But yeah I try adding as much detail as I can, basically watch inside cockpit videos to get inspiration on how to make the inside
@McChezborger thanks for the great rating, I kind of got lazy with the cockpit a little bit, couldn’t think of what could go in it without making it look too modern
I think most fighters in the 1930’s usually had 4 MGs, especially German and Japanese ones, so could the MG requirements be loosened for builds like that?
@JavierWorks @Khamsin @Simpleplanes25 Congratulations on being the top 3 in the challenge, will start giving out rewards here soon. Thank you all for participating, and hope to see you all on the next one.
Yeah, the important thing is having the ability to have control during the dive and make small adjustments for aiming, which is what the dive breaks are for, and the trapeze allowed for the bomb to go below the prop arc@Hannyboy
If you want, you should try using the speed break part for dive breaks, and adding a trapeze for the center bomb, but the cockpit looks nice, and I like the overall look
@Rayquaza4590 like you made a plane that’s not from the download?

@CallsignGizmo ok sounds good, thanks for the tip as well

@Kenzar Oh what a shame, well still got time if you finish your plane soon haha
@Kenzar like designed and built in 1940 or a design from earlier and is a model from 1940?
@Hahahahaahahshs hopefully you do, the more the merrier!
@Rayquaza4590 it is automatically shown on this if you downloaded it and built it from the download
@TheRealGoober yeah hopefully it interests enough people
@Lauser usually the default scale is good, but if you use the mirror item tool and change the gauges, but I would look up cockpits from the era you’re trying to replicate and see what gauges are located where, but you could experiment too, have fun with it

@MartinByrde @CallsignGizmo should look at the E-2 Hawkeye with fueling probe prototype, looks like a flying narwhal
@Lauser I just started with using a hollow fuselage and open it on top and put a basic or modern cockpit as necessary and building the cockpit from there, after doing that a few times then can start making your own cockpits, just takes practice

@WinsWings thank you, I try to put as much of my experience around aircraft into my builds as possible. And no worries!

@CallsignGizmo I always build them since I feel they don’t lag
Do you have any markings/roundels for the fictional country?
@Alternation could try a Loire 130, there’s not one on here I could find and it’s pretty cool too
Edit: Credit to McChezborger for the engine from his 1930’s challenge
https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/Lfa2PX/Die-Hummel To download my entry to test your aircraft against
@McChezborger I have an idea for an attack aircraft, but might not be able to have the speed or bomb load requirements because it’s a dive bomber
@McChezborger thanks for the great rating, I kind of got lazy with the cockpit a little bit, couldn’t think of what could go in it without making it look too modern
@McChezborger I will try something, the interwar period is my favorite
I think most fighters in the 1930’s usually had 4 MGs, especially German and Japanese ones, so could the MG requirements be loosened for builds like that?
@FirstFish83828 so should we not put the name of the unsimplified vehicle in the name of our entry?
@Farewellntchii thank you, thought it would be an interesting alternate history
@NavalCG thanks, was kinda difficult to not make it look like just a P-47 in Japanese colors, but I think I have a good blend of the two
Thank you to the participants, I will test and evaluate the aircraft and have rankings out soon.
Good simple design, would like a little story in the description, like the origin of the plane and all that
Overall good looking design, but you are supposed to build the cylinders of the engine and not use the base one on the game. But still like it
@JavierWorks @Khamsin @Simpleplanes25 Congratulations on being the top 3 in the challenge, will start giving out rewards here soon. Thank you all for participating, and hope to see you all on the next one.
Currently testing all models to decide on points, thank you for all that participated
Yes, they are allowed, just the norm to be a 2 seater@Khamsin
Thank you, was kinda hard but glad it came out good@MrCOPTY
Hmm, when I decide on the rewards I will edit the challenge summery, thank you@WinsWings
Thanks, first attempt at building with one hand and thought it went well @WinsWings
I was still thinking about it, any suggestions?@WinsWings
Best of luck, and the input control will say Activate1 or Activate2, etc for the AG group used@Khamsin
Best of luck, replica or fictional you thinking?@Raiquaza19AirComp
Also most were 2 seaters with a gunner in the back, but not really a requirement @Hannyboy
Yeah, the important thing is having the ability to have control during the dive and make small adjustments for aiming, which is what the dive breaks are for, and the trapeze allowed for the bomb to go below the prop arc@Hannyboy
Can use my Val to help, probably my best trapeze I made
If you want, you should try using the speed break part for dive breaks, and adding a trapeze for the center bomb, but the cockpit looks nice, and I like the overall look
Thank you, only 6 weeks to heal lol @PlaneGuy01
