Well five devs upvoted this... I agree with @PoinX25tlessWhyShouldI because SR2 is really advanced compared to SP, the flight models for planes are even better. The thing is, adding something like the screen into the current SP would stand out like a sore thumb -- even the new glass and smoothing is cutting it close. SP2 is really the only way to advance what we have now, or it appear very contrived.
So taking stuff from SR2 and transforming it from a rocket game compatible for planes into a plane game compatible with rockets. I would assume they would take away all the time warping, navball stuff, advanced orbit mechanics, and extra planets except earth and maybe the moon. However, I could definitely see the adjustable rockets remaining(less presets though), with more jets added.
I doubt that @AndrewGarrison and his team of devs will talk about it here, but it is very much a statement, in my opinion, that they have all upvoted this(unless in the horrible case that they have been hacked).
This plane is actually really good and I love it. And most planes, I hate.
1- you cannot take off with 20% throttle
2- no @$#&#$# gyro
3- rcs shuts off on its own
4- flaps can go only down and they do not have a gradient of angles
5- good smooth and slow turns
But the nozzles can go 90* backwards so all of the above doesnt count
I have gotten into SR2 a lot more recently and while I am not a huge fan of the HUD and designer HUD, or the website site tbh. But this is gonna be sick
@KnightOfRen yessss definitely. @AndrewGarrsion I dont care if you reply to me, or upvote darkmatty51 's post, or anything, but maybe consider what KnightOfRen said? A small, out of main sight, subtle memorial to the great Chuck Yeager
Sorry, but this kinda sucks
~ roll backwards
~ yaw backwards and a control surface
~ giant peice of engine moves... irl just the very tip of the nozzle does
~ you cannot take credit for this, not your idea so people dont have to give you credit if they build similar
~ waaaaay too much deflection
~ flies like a peice of, well, you know what
~ this is the type of plane you could easily add default lg on, why isnt there any
~ why is it so ugly Block me if you want to. Sorry, the truth hurts sometimes.
@OrderlyHippo it’s because they want to churn out the best pilots on the earth rather than the best autopilot operators haha
Kind of like the explanation for top gun, where they are trying to teach strategical dogfighting tactics rather than using long range missiles and just relying on having bigger engines and better g suits
@ReturnOfJeffChandler ok lol great...
1. Terrain avoidance is impossible because there is no radar -- just the AltitudeAgl but thats just directly under your plane
2. Wing flex is REALLY commonly used by the airliner building section of the community, so I'm not gonna pretend I invented it lol
3. High Alpha, Stall Recovery, etc is GuyFolk's stuff. Talk to him
4. Auto takeoff? Push the throttle to full and set trim to the bottom lmao
5. The waypoint thing is a fun idea but also VERY simple. Just plug a trig expression into a heading hold expression. I can explain it to you and you can probably do it yourself.
Time to make a hard to understand paragraph
It's too complex, yet so pre-complexified that you cannot make it even more complex because it is not simple enough. If that makes sense.
It's why I like SP better than SR2 because SR2 has a UI and parts that are designed to be easy for new users... but when you get better, you realize the parts and UI are complex and only work in the way the game wanted you to. In SP it has a simple connection editor and fuselage block, so you can make all sorts of shapes like a dodecahedron(good luck on that in SR2).
So a dummy is more of an SR2 thing(they even have one in current usage) because it is easy for a beginner, but something basic with many modification parameters would be more SP-ey
Sun is shinin' in the sky
There ain't a cloud in sight
It's stopped rainin' everybody's in the play
And don't you know
It's a beautiful new day, hey hey
Runnin' down the avenue
See how the sun shines brightly in the city
On the streets where once was pity
Mr. Droo Sky is living here today, hey hey
Mr. Droo Sky please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long (so long)
Where did we go wrong?
Mr. Droo Sky please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long (so long)
Where did we go wrong?
Hey you with the pretty face
Welcome to the human race
A celebration, Mr. Droo Sky's up there waitin'
And today is the day we've waited for
Oh Mr. Droo Sky please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long (so long)
Where did we go wrong?
Hey there Mr. Droo
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around see what you do
Everybody smiles at you
Hey there Mr. Droo
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around see what you do
Everybody smiles at you
Mr. Droo, you did it right
But soon comes Mr. Night creepin' over
Now his hand is on your shoulder
Never mind I'll remember you this
I'll remember you this way
Mr. Droo Sky please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long (so long)
Where did we go wrong?
Hey there Mr. Droo (sky)
We're so pleased to be with you (sky)
Look around see what you do (blue)
Everybody smiles at you
If someone legit sang Mr Blue but Mr Droo, I would be really happy
Ok, SO
Hang on tight, you might need some math knowledge for this. Also, you should need a good understanding of FT. For this example, we will assume that you want the pistons to move when you activate group one.
.
Here is the code: 'clamp01(smooth(Activate1, 0.2)>1)'
But I dont want you to just copy-paste it, I want you to understand it. Thay way, you can customize it for your needs.
.
When you actuate group one, the value immediately changes from -1 to 1. The smooth(x, t) function makes the input change slowly. So, if you put smooth(Activate1, 0.2) and activate group 1, it will change from -1 to -0.9999 to -0.5 to 0, etc. It will take it a bit of time to reach 1, depending on the second value in the function.
.
So by using the > symbol, we get a -1 when we are less than one, and a 1 when we are over 1. Then the clamp01() function to clean it up.
.

Oh, a lot of my friends are going through this exact problem. Also, my girlfriend and I are about to lease a tractor--but long term tractor leases can put stress on a relationship, idk what to do?!
Because you need to set your throttle to 0 when you turn it off. To fix this, go into XML and under the inputController area, set the parameter of: zeroOnDeactivate : true
@UssrLENIN yeah but every plane is different. This only works for a plane with the same mass, lift, control authority, rotational inertia, drag, etc as “Wasp(simple)”
@C47skytrain yep, I tried that. It was being super finicky, so I reasearched it on the sp website, and the location of each ship resets every time you choose a new location. There’s no funky tree variables for that, unfortunately
@OkaNieba yep you can, it’ll be pretty hard to move over and there’s a lot of params to tune, so it could be tricky. Also fyi Carrier landings are impossible to code — the position of any ship does not move consistently
@Bryan5 oh haha, I meant to put it unlisted. I was like “what the fck” because I thought you got into my unlisted builds. Then I realized it was public on accident.
ES-BAH looks very cool but seems too fun and bubbly like an aerobatics biplane. But even though I'm a blue over red person, DDR-SKD and OK-HTL are both really cool liveries so my vote goes to 2 and 7. Probably DDR the German one as 1st choice.
How hard can it be to add ft inputs for brakes? Like that would be game changing for me and it can’t take more than an hour to implement right?
+13I'm sure @AndrewGarrison is flattered by the fact that his game is preferable to real life...
+10A nickname Andrew was called by his friends

+2@Kangy oh thanks lol — I’ve never really gotten into the discord community but hopefully that gets the word out I think this is super cool too
+2@Darkspoul Ultralight is my name, I love them too. That is probably because it is most realistic that I would have an ultralight over other planes.
