@SupremeDorian I think he reaches those speeds while diving, as apparent in the final battle scene of the first movie. During level flight I imagine he’s only going 300-400mph, maybe even 500 if he’s really overworking himself. It even says on Google if you search up his top speed, and it actually does tell you; 448m/s, or roughly 1,002mph. It also begs the question of how Hiccup even stays on Toothless while he’s performing highly agile maneuvers at high speeds, let alone endure the high G-Forces that have to be acting on both of them. He’s seen to make turns at incredibly high speeds that are tighter than something like an F-16’s turn radius, so it all seems rather confusing when you realize what kind of physics have to be going on while stuff happens lol. Then again it’s just a movie, so does it really matter in the end?
@Sparky6004 I’ll have you know I’ve gotten atleast four Yellowjackets on my hand at once, and none of them stung me. They were just vibin, there’s a hive in my grandmother’s barn next to the house and I was just getting them off the ground, letting them walk onto my hand. I’ve also done this with Bald Faced Hornets, European Hornets, and Brown Hornets, and I’ve yet to be stung. My advice? Just be careful with them, and don’t give them a reason to sting you, i.e. don’t try to hurt them or provoke them. Wasps and hornets can be cute too, you just gotta see them in the right light. As for this creation here, this is really cool! I love the way the wings move, it really emulates how they fly irl
Yeah! I’ve found that refreshing the game fixes this, but the spikes come back after 5-10 minutes of gameplay. Weirdly enough, there’s usually little to no lag at all in the actual world, yet the world is almost always laggier than the designer. Heck, the Devs even mentioned that they removed drag calculations in the designer to free up a little more FPS in a previous update!
That’s actually really cool! This could possibly be a way to “dock” with other players’ creations without the usage of magnets, meaning player made aircraft carriers can now hold other players without them sliding off, same with aerial aircraft carriers and everything in between. This is awesome!
@CC1010 that could be really cool, but I think with the way missiles work in SP, it can’t lock onto a flare. I think they only lock onto targets with an official targeting reticule, like players, AI Planes, land/sea AI’s, etc. Flares are their own non-targetable entity, much like missiles themselves, cannon rounds, bullets from miniguns and wing-guns, basically those kinds of things.
But hey, who knows! And I know the game just updated, but in future updates, there’s always the chance that the Devs surprise us. They certainly did that with 1.11, that’s for sure!
@Fluffysheep it doesn’t seem like something that would be operated in heavy terrain though, rather it would probably fight in populated areas with, at the very least, dirt roads and/or paths.
I’m actually in a DaVinci Unit in Art atm, and I saw this very tank in our notes! Very cool concept, it actually seems like something that in it’s era, could’ve been pretty effective at wreaking havoc.
@Gluck funny you say that, I literally just got home from school at the time posting this comment, and every day after school I check the mailbox. You would’ve killed me. Unless of course, it wasn’t armed properly, or it was just a shitty pipe bomb.
@X99STRIKER well it helps to realize, literally what is someone gonna do. This is the SimplePlanes website, it’s not like we’re on 4Chan or something. Also, you’d be entering my house, my territory. You find yourself in an unfamiliar environment, meanwhile I know this place like the back of my hand.
Some of those screenshots look like actual images, those shaders combined with how smooth the new update makes everything is absolutely beautiful. This game, when really pushed to its full potential, just absolutely crushes most other reputable flight sims.
See, now doesn’t this look nice? Why can’t this be a normal addition to the game, with the ability to turn them on and off via the graphics settings, it’d make the entire world of SP seem so much more alive.
The MOAB Massive Ordnance Air Blast has roughly 18,700lbs of explosives at its disposal. If this aircraft here is carrying 98 MOAB’s, then your aircraft has a payload of roughly 1,832,600lbs of explosives, which doesn’t exactly make sense but jESUS CHRIST-
@X99STRIKER
A typical AC-130 Gunship costs roughly $132,400,000 to own, and to fly, costs roughly $7,000 per hour. I live on 24 MainStreet in Schwenksville, PA. There’s a pizza place and the Perkiomen Trailhead just down the street, and before that there’s a large section of town houses with a stupidly designed blind corner that I hate with a passion. My house is the one that is a little further back than the others, it looks smaller on the outside than it is on the inside. Across it is a large house with a massive front yard, you can’t miss it.
Nobody cares unless you’re a beloved platinum user or you’re just really controversial in general lol, it’s basically the equivalent of nobody caring if some random homeless person helped an old lady cross the street, vs some overrated rich person literally comments the letter L on another stupid rich person’s social media profile, and the entire world goes insane
Wdym by formation light halos? Like the halo effect on beacon lights? Cause if that’s what that is I think the entire community would gladly rather keep those
@_PolarSpirit well their’s is a “Mass Driver” and mine’s a Coil Gun, so neither is a Railgun. But if I were you, I’d go with the Chimera. 350mm of iron tearing through the air at over 20,000fps might as well be the end for anything it hits.
Right now wait just one damn minute you iron deficient clown, don’t go narking on me and praising yourself for being better, you gotta back your stuff up with actual lore and explanations as to why something is completely insane, otherwise you just sound like a Mary Sue. Cool build, but PyrhPan shan’t be mocked.
What color is the square? If it’s green, you should have no problem targeting it. If it’s blue, it’s identified as friendly, preventing you from locking onto it.
@ManManTheWeaponsMan take advantage of the intricate designs and details on some of the parts in SP, mainly parts in the Gizmos and Engines section. These parts, when scaled nicely or positioned in a creative way, can have wonderful effects on your build. Rotator notches can be used to look like radiators, or some other corrugated surface. Winches can be used to look like coils, like I’ve demonstrated here. Engines can even be used as cooling fans, there’s no limit as to what you can conceive in this game!
This is super cool, the different looking wings are awesome. Also just a question about the actual F-104, since I’ve seen so many people say different things about it, was it actually ridiculously maneuverable and incredibly agile, or was it straight as an arrow and didn’t maneuver all that quick?
@Sjwnwbwnjwjwjjw when this plane was made, roughly 6 years ago, it absolutely shattered all boundaries previously thought to limit builds in this game. This aircraft, while it may be sub-par for today’s standards, was completely insane for what it was when it was made; it has custom 3D Wings, a custom cockpit with an actual interior, which was almost never seen on the website if at all, it has custom landing gear, another thing that was rarely seen, and the build’s visuals are, for a build from 6 years ago, incredibly blueprint accurate. This is in fact the plane that destroyed all boundaries of SimplePlanes.
The reason why it has over 1,300 upvotes today is purely for meme value; back when it was posted, it got around 400-500 upvotes within a few months, and then it lost its popularity, only being upvoted once or twice here and there. But roughly two years ago, the build was gaining more popularity again, as the community was much larger - we decided that the only appropriate response was to get this thing to hit 1,000 upvotes, which we absolutely smashed that milestone. Anything beyond that is solely because you can upvote whatever you want, regardless of criteria.
To summarize, this plane obliterated all limitations of the game when posted, got a shit ton of upvotes. Years later, people wanted it to hit 1,000 upvotes, purely for the fun of it. Now it occasionally gets upvotes here and there since then, which have added up to 1,348 at the time I post this comment.
This update is freakin amazing. This cockpit here, before the update, would’ve easily been over 2,000 - 3,000 parts, no doubt at all. Now, something even more detailed than this can be made with less than a few hundred. The progress this game has seen throughout its six-ish years of existence is one of the most incredible timelines of video game advancement I’ve ever seen.
I’ve tried making gears before, using spheres that have their dimensions edited via Overload seem to work very nicely, as their hit box is actually accurate to it’s shape
”I’ll show ‘em a little trick I learned!”
+4- Tuskegee Airman in Redtails
@SupremeDorian oh cool, would you mind linking a vid of the scene? (I tried looking after seeing the comment and nothing relevant appeared)

This is awesome!
How do you enter this challenge?
@ManManTheWeaponsMan well then consider this post a redemption to your previous endeavor with my other CoilGun
@LocalAvgeek it does not. This is a WWI Era biplane fighter, if you pitch up too hard for too long, it’s gonna stall.
+1@Ozari077 dude. Check my series builds section in my bio. There’s a list called PUMF, I’ve made so many RailGuns...
@PetRussian sure
Hehe Gatling CoilGun go
THOOOMTHOOOMTHOOOMTHOOOMTHOOOMTHOOOMTHOOOM

Very low effort meme

@RamboJutter good lord that thing has a tight roll rate, I’ve never seen a video of it flying before so that’s pretty cool
@ManManTheWeaponsMan like I said, the anatomy isn’t exactly the most plausible thing in the world
