@MrShenanigans2020 April 15 is what I'm thinking. I want to give people a chance to go all out, appreciate their fellow builders work, and enjoy automotive culture.
@SyntheticL No worries,"open' means this event will have no restrictions. I was thinking of having builds organized by classes based on part counts for a "Best in Class", but the main goal of this challenge is to bring the community together, inspire newer builders, and celebrate automotive culture. There may be a multiplayer part to it.
Cool, then I'll probably put the post out today, and have it run into mid April so it doesn't over lap with @Mage2isTriggered GT Challenge. I still working on a race car right now anyways, but we'll have ourselves a virtual car meet. Thank you all for the input.
@V As far as the racing aspect this first even is probably going to be more of a car meet. If it gets a good turnout, then we can probably do more racing events. For that it'll be FIA rules, horsepower, weight, and drag point restriction. I like the idea though, and once I get some input on this forum, I'll probably have an official challenge out in a few days. Once it gets going, all I can say is invite your friends, it'll be race day.
@PapaKernels Mobile is definitely invited and encouraged. As far as multiplayer, still working on that part. This is going to be a completely open event so everyone can participate. If this event works out, then who knows, maybe virtual car meets.
I was thinking of a best in show, and best in class award. Classes being organized by things like truck versus car or parts count. And best in show being the entire car meet.
@Mage2IsTriggered Then that'd turn Simple Planes into a racing sim, but why would @andrewgarrison want to do that? That'd be like, an entirely new genre of SP VR the community could enjoy. (hoping Andrew is see's this)
@WolfHunter9111 Pretty much, but I made it easy to turn it into the Strassenversion race car if someone really wanted to though. I already got a race car in the works, this was more of a fun side project.
Also a last tip I forgot to add, if you flip over, and the rear tires make contact with the mud flaps, just go into reverse and the car should flip over. Don't ask, it's just me abusing the games mechanics.
@Redheadracer48 One thing I recommend is building generic airframes. Some days when I'm bored I'll just build a really rough model, and use it as a base for bigger builds. This plane is built on a rough model I made 2 years ago, and I just refine it till I think it's good. Building replicas is good to, especially if you want to get some real world basis for your designs. Other than that I think you well on your way with planes like the Excruciator, especially once you get a style you enjoy. For me I enjoy painfully laying down chrome accents and lights. If you ever need some tuning or recommendations, you can send it to people you trust to review you models. I'll sometimes send an unlisted design to a friend for tuning. Last thing I say is stick to your gut, and don't rate you're ability on Upvotes or fancy nameplates. Some people fall into the trap of chasing votes. Look forward to seeing more of your designs, let me know if you need help with anything.
@Tornait Thanks, by the looks of it, your already getting there. Your TA-1 is a good build, and I think if you go at it with a new perspective you might be surprised what you will make. I think that's the fun of designing something.
Asymmetry is hard, I actually got some Eve ships still in revision since it's a guessing game with how the engines need to be tuned in order for it to fly straight, and more of a nightmare with the flight model to keep it from rolling, but the tuning on this one does is perfectly. Impressive work on the parts reduction, especially around the cockpit area.
@laSoul hate to say it but I'm not too familiar with the Rogue Shadow. I'm more of a Fury Class Interceptor kind of guy. The painful part is the interior work, but it's a labor of dedication so it's not too bad.
@CapnCrunk Then I definitely have to make a Grogu. With a larger parts budget on the higher detailed version, that's definitely going on the build plan.
@CrimsonOnigiri Thanks, original designs are usually hard to make popular, especially when you don't have that platinum badge, but long as the people who download enjoy it, that for me is a success. Plus, the stuff and FT code that went into this thing will find itself in future designs.
Okay, I'll be honest, I tried to like SR2. Being someone who enjoys space as a game genre I was hoping the sandbox mode would be simple planes in space, with a realistic career mode. Great physics, but building in that game is no where near as easy as Simple Planes. Sorry but I need to go with @ArkRoyalTheDDhunter
I have no idea what's going on so I'm just going to nod my head, and leave an upvote. I think the Tea drinkers are taking over the community, I need to go hide my coffee then.
@Chaka I agree with you, the problem I guess is everyone has their breaking point, and some of us tend to make little problems a lot bigger than they really are. I say lets get back the real issues... like when they are going to finally put ACTUAL TANK TRACKS IN THE GAME! Come on guys its been like year since we had cannons, how about a new wheel type like tracks or something.
@blackvultureaeroespace Yeah, I had to be careful with this one, so I made the green
fluorescent, and the people blue to not offend anyone, unless there's a community of Smurfs here I'm not aware of.
@ErickvCamilo Crossout is actually why I build components as modular pieces. I don't think a glass canopy would be able to take cannon fire very well though.
@spefyjerbf thank you for your upvote, and your post. I think you're the best in the community when it comes to futuristic concepts so I appreciate the critique. It's also good to see a fellow Elite Dangerous player here.
Yes, I'm aware there are RTS systems, but the designer at some point was bugging up. I think I hit the space limit as far as how big you can make something.
@PlanariaLab Yes please, thanks. I've been basically playing Maywar Safari simulator 2020, literally parking myself away from a turret, and waiting for it to do something (the most fun I ever had playing simple planes, and I mean that with sarcasm of course). It killed only one plane with an AA gun, but most of the time it was trying to pull up. I think the issue is a turret spawned is fully capable to tracking and chasing targets, but at lower altitudes it priority in it's programming is to automatically start pulling up because it's still thinks it's an airplane. I think if someone can figure out how to get the AI to think it's at a higher altitude, then auto turrets should be possible. Just a theory, I have no idea how to mod, or program, so I'm not sure if it's even possible.
I noticed a minor issue with one of it's wings, really just the paint job. I want the community to enjoy the best quality, so think of it as an "Out of Early Access" patch. I also added missiles just in case no one noticed the available pylons. If it's one thing I learned at an early age, you always need to construct addition pylons. Remove them is you don't need them, this thing has 5 already in it's bays. I'll post the link in the description.
@MrShenanigans2020 Got to love those old Shelby Classics
+1It goes off the jumps very well in the jump zone so it definitely has my vote. That's my unofficial test on how I rate cars.
+1@Aviator01 Yes, you can modify vehicles you have already built.

+1@PapaKernels eventually it's going to be a post, this is just to see if the community is up for a challenge like this, as well as take it new ideas.

+1I was a little skeptical about the lever working as a throttle, but it works very well.
+1By the way, hopefully this helps to get you to silver. Getting noticed and building up your name can be a grind in this community sometimes.
+1Also a last tip I forgot to add, if you flip over, and the rear tires make contact with the mud flaps, just go into reverse and the car should flip over. Don't ask, it's just me abusing the games mechanics.
+1Great build. Now I have something I can practice landing my VTOLs on too.
+1So if we try to get this thing showcased, would that be bad?
+1I'm just here to throw out some random Upvotes

+1@Falco7 Going well, I did all the scaling so now it's filling in a skeleton. I'm also making the interior CMDR FRj made few years back on YouTube.
+1As a pilot in training who never gets any down time, this Eurocopter is exactly what I was looking for, thanks 👍

+1Thanks, this thing was used to help me figure out how I was supposed to make a ST-70 fly, but it kind of turned into it's own ship. Hope you enjoy it.
+1@CrimsonOnigiri hate to say it but I never had the chance to see his builds. Definitely need to check them out.
+1@Falco7 Awesome, I'm happy it works. Enjoy the build, and thanks for testing out the design.

+1A VTOL? Upvote, no questions asked
+1Sure, let keep this train Rollin, upvote and spotlight
+1@Viper_Z3R0 cool, I was trying to get all intricate with the details. I enjoy giving my self headaches making interiors.
+1I'll jump in on this one, are we allowed to hollow out the hull?
+1For the number of parts used it is impressive

+1I built an Eagle from Elite Dangerous, and I just found this mod, your timing is perfect, thanks for adding this.

@Embo that's what happens when your in the grey zone, you might not get banned but you can still get burned.
+1@Krmo @TriStar101 thanks for the Spotlight

+1Here goes me upvoting something from almost 5 years ago. But I can definitely respect a good effort.
+1Let's see here, VTOL low observable design. I may be a little biased, but that's a win in my books.
+1Yes, I'm aware there are RTS systems, but the designer at some point was bugging up. I think I hit the space limit as far as how big you can make something.

+1Looks good, as you can tell from my logo, I enjoy these kind of builds. Looks like a YF-23, which in my opinion was better than the 22.
