Right, while we're begging:
Can you add glass so you can make canopies that aren't single shapes that are actually see through from the inside? I really can't think of much more other than adding FT support to more parts (that, and the tank tracks people obviously want)
Since the major 1.9 update added stuff like AngleOfAttack and now we're getting G-forces and such, can you make a readout window so we can actually know these stats and calibrate control systems and instruments properly? It would certainly be nicer than doing everything by feel, let's say.
Wow, this is really really good! I haven't tried it yet but don't worry too much about maneuverability, the F-4 was after all made with two key principles in mind:
1. Since it's an interceptor meant to launch missiles from far away, it doesn't need to be very maneuverable.
2. Given enough thrust, even a brick could fly.
The cockpit looks amazing and it externally looks to be very true to the real thing.
Apparently you have a newer version coming so keep it up!
@davygravy10 Aaah that's a good fear to have :)
If they are young enough that you still watch over them online then they will have almost certainly not picked up the "internet sense" to avoid malware.
Regardless, calling Dropbox a "Russian hacker site" is quite the hyperbole. 😆
Very interesting! A variation of this kind of thing will be very useful for carrier landings. Now if only we could bang our heads together to see if a flight path vector is possible...
Is this based on a CASA C-295/235? I looks very reminiscent of it. Maybe it's just that the wing design seems very similar for these kinds of small turboprop transport aircraft, as it also reminds me of the C-212...
Awesome! I am a bit sad that you didn't include anything in the description like the history of the aircraft (like the fact that it's one of the few, if no the only large jetliner to include its own boarding stairs). But this is amazing!
@DPSAircraftManufacturer This one didn't have much effort put into it, thanks for offering. What I am going to do is to put flaps on another replica, and I would appreciate your help with that.
Extra notes: I noticed that the engines are rather small compared to the rest of the aircraft, and since they're so long, they look like turbojets, reminiscent of the Boeing 707 or other large quad-jet airliners. This plane never existed so im going to take a few liberties, but I will make a version with larger, more up to date engines.
Also I didn't get the shape of the wings quite right, but it's not the end of the world.
@DPSAircraftManufacturer I'll look into it tomorrow. It was actually rather hard to find good, high res blueprints and designs, too.
@Blueskies you're welcome!
Okay... the vertical stabilizer seems large enough as it is, and I'm trying to get the main gear as far apart as possible without it showing through the body when it's retracted.
@DPSAircraftManufacturer It would not be amiss... How do you make your flaps, for example? I would probably not integrate fuselage wings and flaps into this particular model, since it's made to be very simple and mobile friendly, but flaps giving more speed instead of just drag is something that I'm still struggling with.
Looks nice! Also props for the actually hollow fuselage, doing it with "panels" is a pain. Let's see how much of a nose-up tendency this ends up having, ;)
Very very nice! Not the most agile (you have to really lead into the approach for a good landing that won't crush the nose gear) but otherwise very good! Performance is also a little lacking. A little over Mach 1 at 32000 feet is not as fast as I was expecting.
@DPSAircraftManufacturer Yeah, I changed the design of the wings when I added the fuselage. I didn't have the blueprint side by side (I was away from my PC for a while). They're a bit big now that I look at them, and not swept enough. An easy enough change.
@what1do2you3think Thanks! I was thinking that it was a bit barren but I think that throttle levers, artificial horizons, airspeed, vertical speed, altimeter, gear lever and fuel gauge is enough. Since I've only run it on my phone, I am now excited to see how it runs on my PC.
Hi! I don't know if you noticed but I made a plane out of this cockpit. Pretty much a 737, which is kinda funny considering this was "lifted" from an existing 737 build.
Very nice! Something the original probably had was another gear at the back, or better balance, to avoid tailstrikes. It's a bit goofy to see it like that, even if in-game it's perfectly fine. Kudos!
@DPSAircraftManufacturer Backwards, you mean? This plane was just made in a few hours on my phone, a low effort kinda thing. I sure could make more complicated wings with more complicated dihedral and fuselage covering, but I daren't do so on my phone.
@Mobius1Cyka Hi! No, it should work mighty fine. The only moving part is the exhaust for the "reverser" (not an actual reverse thrust mechanism!)
The only "secret" to this is that I "discovered" that engines will thrust just fine when inside fuselage. You can change the inlet as you please, but the fan thingy is actually an engine itself. As long as that's there, it should operate exactly the same.
@Lizardman06 It seems like you are increasing the max input to infinity which gives an infinite rotation target. When you lower the desired input, it goes backwards to the value you have just set. Maybe you should try something that adds input when the throttle or whatever is above a certain position.
@SnoWFLakE0s Oh, that is very, very nice! Is there a way to distinguish negative and positive G?
Also, could more parts be made compatible with Funky Trees (namely, the VTOL RCNs)?
Wow. Wow. Simply stellar. There are so many great things in this build... Custom landing gear that actually goes into compartments, detailed wings with custom airfoils, DOUBLE SLOTTED FOWLERS, custom nozzles, extremely detailed cockpit... You are a SimplePlanes God.
I see the inspiration as well. Very nice!
This is a very nice plane! I see some F-4 inspiration 👀
One thing though: in my opinion, it is nowhere near maneuverable enough. I'm not saying it should be able to turn on a dime, but terrain evasion like in this challenge is going to be very hard to pull off in this. Best of luck!
Hey @WNP78 my question is not about Funky Trees but you did write the guide. I'm having an issue where I can't get Overload to accept my custom missile functions. All the other options I'm trying to customize on the Cleaver work, but it's not taking "AirToAir" with or without quotes.
Edit: never mind, got it to work. I think I just typed it in with the first A being lowercase and then it worked. It even corrected it for it to be all first letters to be uppercase.
@DPSAircraft Helmet Mounted Cueing System. You use it to slave your IR missile and radar lock to where you're looking. Skim through this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoWOGsER29Q
If we had access to view angles, we could make gimballing guns (so no black magic with activation groups and flight controls), we could expand the capabilities of dogfights... At what point does SP become too serious? Maybe I'm setting my expectations a bit too high.
It annoys me that I only just found out about the existence of the KAI T-50. I immediately saw it and went- hey, I've seen this before!
Good job!
+7Simple but very nice. Thanks!
+4Right, while we're begging:
+2Can you add glass so you can make canopies that aren't single shapes that are actually see through from the inside? I really can't think of much more other than adding FT support to more parts (that, and the tank tracks people obviously want)
¡Olé!
+2@mikoyanster Francamente no tenía ni idea. Obviamente hay españoles jugando, pero no me esperaba que fuera alguien muy conocido como tú.
Ya me están dando ganas de replicar algún avión español...
+2@DickBrazen GeForce Now. You should go on the subreddit :D

+1Oh my! This is ingenious. Best carpet bomb I've seen!

I find it a bit odd that you did not give the wing any dihedral, but it's still a really, really nice airplane!
+1@davygravy10 Aaah that's a good fear to have :)

+1One of the rules is to paint it in a desert camo. You've still got plenty of time though. Otherwise, this is absolutely stunning!
+1I wonder how well your missions can be flown with an over the top setup by using stuff like head tracking...
+1Very interesting! A variation of this kind of thing will be very useful for carrier landings. Now if only we could bang our heads together to see if a flight path vector is possible...
+1@freedompilot98 ¡Sí, soy Madrileño! ¿Quieres unirte al Discord de SP en castellano? Tengo la invitación en mi descripción.

Oh my... I'm getting too inspired. Next I'll have to add cockpits with instruments and (this particularly) AoA indexers to my fighters...
+1Wha- there's SimplePlanes squadrons? What?!
On the flipside, there's a Discord I recently joined for the Castillian speaking community within SP. Do you wanna join?

+1De nada! Yo soy de Madrid.
+1Beautifully done!
@dawson123 Can't be done.
+1@Laurentjames123 I don't know. You can only see the images when the view is exact. It's made that way.

+1Made with old mod tools? Probably doesn't matter since it's a map, but still weird.

@Tessemi SP does have wind, what do you mean? But Flyout does look good.
@TheMachinist The same way you do on PC. You enable Overload and plug your formula into the input.
@RicardoAs1515 Te ganó locura, estamos hablando lol
Pero bien hecho
This is a very nice plane! I see some F-4 inspiration 👀

It would be pretty cool if we had some way to get data from the view. Like an HMCS sort of thing. Love your stuff!
