@Robomo119E I would like to, but it's an extremely long and complicated thing to explain exactly.
Long story short, the core of the walking function is the sine and cosine function, and almost all the hinges and rotors are constantly checking for either Activate2, Landing gear, or both. Effectively, I'm writing two to three functions for each joint
VTOL mode uses a lot of convoluted ways for finding the forward and sideways velocity, and compensates based on that, when no input is supplied.
This is also building on my almost six years of playing this, so there was just a lot of things I picked up to make this thing tick
I also lost the .pdn file I used to make the thumbnail so I'm probably gonna have to design one from scratch for my next upload, but for now Im just gonna enjoy my weekend

As I said in a previous forum post, without your guys' interest this probably would have taken a lot longer lmao, so thanks for giving me the motivation I needed to finish this build in... (checks notes) Four days?
I think that's a record for something Ive put this much soul into.
Also thanks for putting up with my filler uploads in the meantime, I was just trying to get all my old builds on the site before I forgot about them.
Again, thanks a ton!
Yeah Ive just been in the process of posting a lot of old builds that Ive whipped up during my absence, but the Mech project should be posted tomorrow, since I just have some screenshots to make and edit.
Posted a video demonstrating the flight mode, and on high graphics. here
Probably gonna build a hover mode, taking advantage of the bottom section joints to do so in order to land it
AWU stands for Airborne Walker Unit
Yeah I know it does a moonwalk at full throttle and I really need to work on the takeoff sequence, but it works.
Markings are also added, using the Air Force standard since it is technically an aircraft.
Also need to solve the autoroll problem.
Now I gotta figure out how to land it...
oh wow I didnt expect to get tag requests, Well in that case I think its safe to say I should post it
Realistic time frame would be in the next week but we'll have to see
Five years and still chugging along. Although now doing less of building planes than just posting my insane experiments once I get them to work how I want
I know a while back I pitched using a minecraft lookin plane I built for screenshots and whatnot Well its about time I finally posted it
I hope this isnt annoying its just I dont know how else to finally get this to you
After fiddling around for a bit, dont use the below function, it doesnt work at all.
The premise is there, its just i've been away for too long to make it actually work
Oh its definitely possible.
Basically, what you'd need is a smooth operation timed with the desired activator,
i.e. 1-floor(smooth([DESIRED CONDITION, AS A BINARY],[COOLDOWN IN SECONDS]))
and place an activation group [VARIABLE NAME]=1?1:0
Ill have to d a bit of testing because I havent opened SP in a while
@HariTheSnakk Oh man, you must have really been looking if you found a post from three and a half years ago lmao
But even so I'm glad you stumbled across it, because despite its age its still one of my favorite builds and would fly it in the multiplayer mod all the time.
Hover controls take a bit of getting used to since there are a couple quirks with it, but given the time to get a feel for it and its really fun to use.
In regular flight mode, its ridiculously stable, but bleeds speed like you wont believe and sometimes the physics freaks out with the legs. While slow for a jet, its not ecactly built for combat in SP.
Ive since made a 1.2 version which adresses some of these problems and removes a lot of the escape pod functions in exchange for weight, although I havent published it yet.
Sorry for the wall of text, but again, I just stoked that you found this post my earlier days of SP upon which I look so fondly
@Rb2h
Thats the idea
This plane is fast but not agile.
Long range or high velocity missiles would do the trick as well
(Wow I just saw how old this post was, damn.)
@c144538707 I dont know how I overlooked that
@KudaOni I mean that is kinda what it is
+1@Robomo119E of course I don't mind, Id love to see what you can do with it

@Yeet24k Of course, it's right here
@AnotherRB he's posted!
@TheMouse that's fair
@TheMouse I would but theres already a lot of them on the actual post, and I didnt really have any more screenshots
+1Ive also noted a flaw in the steering, you need to angle the main fuselage in the direction you want to turn in while in mech mode. Just be advised

@TheMouse Oooooh good idea
Thrust vectoring in 1943
I then proceeded to land this on one of the destroyer helipads but Me, being an idiot, forgot to record that
After getting my VTOL system to work, I decided to test it by flying from Wright to the Beast.
Turned out pretty good, I think.
(From the other side of the room:)
GOOFY GOOBER, YEAH!

@Majakalona maybe its like a stew where its cooked real slowly
+1@TheMouse
+2I would have but the machine I was using wasn't exactly up to that task. In the future I'll do a high quality screenshot for sure
I dont know why Google had to go and proprietize the file system, most phones before had their own managers and it worked just fine.
If I were to guess, I'd say it would be for the challenge of it, but Ive been out of the loop for a while so who knows

Ya know had I known there was a war I woulda thrown my hat in the ring but I guess I was late to the party
+1AH!
@TheUltimatePlaneLover Im talking about the war, I just logged into the forums for the first time in, like, a year
So whats this all about
@001 Its an older build, sir, but it checks out
