@Rb2h yea, Griffon was basically built around a giant engine (also the size of the air intake was increased several times during development because the engine required a ton of air)
@SuperSuperTheSylph that's exactly what i tried, but even very large wings (not present in the post) could not lift it or even change its trajectory when it was launched from the air. I suspect there is either a change in aerodynamics calculations at that size or the weight of this thing is just too big (i was able to get it flying at 530000 tons instead of 5300000)
Also, the explosion power of the bombs is deliberately decreased, which is why you kinda only see the rockets explode. It can be adjusted in Overload to simulate different explosive mass
@ThomasRoderick .. quite large, but not too much. It will probably have to be like 50% gun and 50% engine with the pilot squeezed somewhere in-between
I mean, it's not too far from some ww2 era planes (except for the firing rate, but i do want some BRRRRTT). As to what it would intercept.. things like Lockheed CL-1201 come to mind
@DrakonDynamics Hey, i messaged you in discord but you may have missed it. First, is Solara taken? Second, is there any lore behind it/which real country (if any) it is based on? thanks
@upperflat i tried using it for yaw stabilization but then realised that a ruddevator will do better. The downside is that landing it with no gyro or landing gear is quite hard
@FlyOnTheWall Actually,
- The original design was tailless with no horisontal stabilisers. I tried adding hidden ones, but again, this does not work. I could move the CoL forward but saw no need to do that since this was not meant to fly anyways
- Setting the engine to what you described is unrealistic, this is meant to be a replica
- You cannot delete the inlets in the nose. First of all, the engines don't have enough air without them, and also it is a known fact that they work inside fuselages, that is commonly used in custom missiles for example. They also weigh nothing
@Mynameisntjeff sure! Please place your order in the Novara discord server so i dont forget about it. Also, please specify the thrust requirements and whether the TVC is 2D or 3D
@Seeras , can you please make this a successor to @DrakonDynamics 's fighter challenge? (https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/ZrQ372/Modern-Fighter-Challenge-Novaran-Edition)
@SuperSuperTheSylph first i thought of just making a balloon or something but then things got silly
+3@Rb2h yea, Griffon was basically built around a giant engine (also the size of the air intake was increased several times during development because the engine required a ton of air)
+3@Ku thanks, that's the plan :)
+2You are a very big inspiration for me!
i forgor the minimum part count requirement
will maybe do another entry, this was fun to build
+2great build!
+2@Limacopter thanks! The background is from the green screen mod:

@Seeras , can you please make this a successor to @AeroTactical 's challenge? (https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/PC8J2e/Open-Turboprop-attack-challenge)
+1based
+1genius
also, the adaptive engine thingy looks very cool in action

+1Awesome! By the way, how did you manage to make the piston detonator work consistently? I was never able to get it right
+1@Seeras , can you please make this a successor to @MrCOPTY 's UAVchallenge? (https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/cx9j9p/05-50-01-04-2025-UAV-Challenge)
+1@rorrE radar? in this economy?
+1holy hell another Ku FT banger
great work!
+1@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 of course, it's all free to use
+1@Thatrando you mean UAVs like the HE LAP series or what?

+1@Seeras, can you please make this a successor to @AviadorArgentino 's light aircraft challenge?
+1@Christiant2 Hey, can you please explain what MDA means? I've been seeing it more in the past days but no clue what this is
+1@Gabriel747 Part-Efficient Aircraft, basically a replica under 96 parts
+1@Graingy both. The firing delay is switched to 0, i think what limits the actual firing rate is the game switching between cannons
+1@NEWCOUNTVIA thanks!
+1@Trainzo thanks!
+1@Yuka0663 if i remember correctly, you will be able to post screenshots at about 100 points
+1@C47skytrain thanks a lot!
+1Made a 4-in-1 F-5

@Ku thanks for the suggestions!
@cooldude321 it does, they are just hidden in the fuselage
@cooldude321 ok good (you can try with the original size too if you want)
@cooldude321 Ok, i'll count that, although this is several times smaller
@Husky12345 if you check the engines you can see that this is already done. I could set it even higher but that would be too unrealistic
@Aviators14 yep happened to me too. This should probably launched on PC, and even then i had issues...

Congrats!
@ReignSUPREME t
Note that the trust is at sea level and will naturally decrease as the altitude increases
great build!

@Convex credit is appreciated but not required
@MizeaO i wonder how comfortable the pilot must feel when shooting..
@Seeras thanks!

@5cmPak38aufPzKpfwIISfl901 exactly! Btw, i made a griffon replica too
@dabestsock thanks
i will use it in my own plane soon (in fact, 3 of my last posts are all parts of it)
@laikeNB its in the description
