The .xml files store the aircraft data, the .bak files are backups of it (I'm not sure how they're generated because only some seem to have them, but they're basically the same file anyway). If you're copying planes from one device to another, all you need are the .xmls.
Also probably because the Nordschleife mod has been posted for over a year whereas this one has been posted for only a few days; some people don't check the mods page super frequently. 44 upvotes in two days is pretty good, all things considered.
@Graingy @TheMouse My expectations on the differences are pretty much as follows:
Juno is, and will continue to be, the step up in terms of realism and physics, as well as complexity. It's not as accessible to new players due to the complexity, but it's more in-depth in terms of simulation.
SimplePlanes 2 will be SimplePlanes 2, similar to SP1 in the somewhat simpler physics and mechanics but much more accessible to players of all ages and oriented more towards having fun building and flying planes (with friends now!) rather than proper Newtonian flight physics. It wouldn't surprise (or bother) me if SP2 doesn't have a spherical planet but is just a flat map like SP1, though probably with a more realistic "space" that actually gets darker and turns to stars as you get higher instead of only affecting the drag and engine performance. That being said, I'm pretty certain that actual spaceflight won't be a feature of it because that's what Juno is for; conversely, whereas atmospheric flight in Juno is rather demanding and challenging, SP2 will likely keep the same casual feel that SP has.
I don't think Juno failed at anything, I think it tried something different that appealed to a different audience, and SP2 is Jundroo's answer to all of the other SP fans who like SP for what it is and didn't want the added complexity and difficulty that Juno has by design.
TL;DR it's not trying to copy or overlap Juno, it's trying to be SimplePlanes 2, plain and simple. I would expect the overall scope of the gameplay to be pretty similar to SP1, but with much greater possibilities for what you can build and do.
If planes from SP1 are as compatible with SP2 as the Steam page implies, then I don't see why they can't just keep using this site but add either a new tab for SP2 builds or (maybe more likely) move the SP1 builds to a "Legacy" section. As far as I can tell there's literally no reason why they would shut down this site even if they do make a new one for SP2, but I don't see why they would need to do that either. There would definitely be some need to sort them so people who don't have SP2 don't get confused with a bunch of stuff they can't download, but an entirely new site would just be unnecessary in so many ways.
As for performance, the Steam page lists both the minimum and recommended specs, which if you can run Juno and/or larger (1000-1500 parts) SP builds, should be fine.
I do agree with you on the pilots though.
You might be better off doing one based around rate of descent than dive angle since that would probably be easier to code (something along the lines of rate(Altitude) < [desired rate of descent, i.e. -1000] could probably work; I'm not sure specifically how the rate function acts but I'm pretty sure it's like that) so that it wouldn't activate if you just enter a brief dive or do a loop or something, but only if you're actually trying to dive-bomb.
Discord finally rolled out the thing they've been planning for a while now where image embeds only work for a limited time (a day or so, if I recall correctly). It sounds like just an anti-user update at first but it means they no longer have to be hosting hundreds of thousands of images for free on other sites, so it's a big improvement for their servers and backend stuff.
You can't rename yourself to a name that's been previously used, even if the old account has been deleted. (Fun fact that's also why I have the 01 at the end of my name; I made an account, changed my mind and deleted it, then changed my mind again)
I'd also been wondering if something like this was possible but I never had the skill to even attempt it. THIS IS AMAZING!
I wonder if I can get it to play Valkyrie Airlines... will have to try that later.
@PlaneFlightX Yep, that was it. Thanks so much! It's been a while since I've worked with FT lol.
And now comes the fun part, fine-tuning it so it actually does what I want it to do how I want it to do it
You can scale down the visual size of the wing part (and any other parts, for that matter) using Overload. Basically, they make the wing whatever size they need for it to work, then scale it down with Overload so it can be hidden.
The one you want to be on when AG1 is ON should have its input set to Activate1, and the one you want to be on when AG1 is OFF should have its input set to !Activate1.
(The ! character in Funky Trees represents "not", so putting it before the input makes the game read "when NOT Activate1=True"; i.e. "when Activate1=False".)
iOS has never had official modding support, as Apple has long since prohibited any third-party code along the lines of game mods from running on their devices (the Modding button was only added on iOS when Overload and FineTuner were integrated into the core game, as it was simpler to bundle those two with the verified game than to integrate them into the base code, I guess). This is unfortunately not something that Jundroo has any control over, and is very unlikely to change.
@O202 I mean that right there is a bannable comment by itself, regardless of any prior stuff. Also, calling on the moderators to "protect you" as you actively try to establish "an atmosphere of hostility" and "radicaliz[e] users" is... really not how that works either.
Edit: And to what end, exactly? The active users on this site form a pretty small community, all things considered. Attempting to radicalize one part of it against another part is not going to work out for you. We already know (and for the most part respect) each others' differences, views, backgrounds, etc., and they are handled (albeit occasionally with some moderator assistance) in a reasonably civilized manner. Trying to stir up drama like this, even if you somehow found a civil way to do it, just won't work.
@Aviator720 50% off is pretty consistent, actually. SimplePlanes has (to my knowledge) only been discounted below that once (75% off for the 2022 Lunar New Year sale, which was shortly after the release of SPVR; I believe the two were bundled for that sale which would explain the greater discount). Otherwise all sales have been 50% off. Same goes for Juno, when it's on sale it's always for 50% off.
Edit: 60% off is actually the greatest that SPVR has ever had as well, so this current sale is somewhere between "consistent with" and "better than" prior ones.
I think a lot of people are still on v1.12.1 because v1.12.2 (the most recent one) only added a few new parts and bugfixes (as well as a few new bugs, cough Wright Final Approach AI spawn cough) in addition to some backend things that most users won't know or care about. 1.12.2 also introduced an unfortunate warning/error spam in the console when connected to a server via the multiplayer mod, which has yet to be fixed and makes keeping up with chat messages or other console commands significantly more difficult.
I'm with PlaneFlightX on this (plus the new levers and switches are objectively very neat), but that's my thoughts on why a lot of people have skipped the update.
The leaking fuel vapor trail effect was only around for a very short time. It's shown in the Damage Control update trailer but was removed for a reason that I'm not aware of.
If you're referring to an actual texture of a bullet hole or something, that's never been a feature.
...How have you used 472 GB?
Also, a much more effective way of storage management would be to buy an external plug-in SSD drive. You can get like a 1TB one for under a hundred bucks.
The .xml files store the aircraft data, the .bak files are backups of it (I'm not sure how they're generated because only some seem to have them, but they're basically the same file anyway). If you're copying planes from one device to another, all you need are the .xmls.
+2I'm honestly more curious as to why the rotor hub disappeared than what you actually did.
+2You can't. Forums are meant to be posts where you discuss things with the community, which... necessitates them being public.
+2When the cannon is set to fire that quickly, the game can't play the fire sound for each round because of how close together they would be.
+2Tagging at the end is valid but feels wrong for some reason.

@Monarchii @Graingy I cannot think of a response to either of those so uhhh... neat.
