Steam does that sometimes. Unless there was some sort of issue that caused it (game constantly crashing, etc.), the most recent save is the one you should pick.
I've been playing this game since fifth grade, and I'm a sophomore in college now (studying engineering, as a matter of fact). There aren't many games I can say I've played nonstop for that long. Loved it all these years, currently enjoying stumbling through Juno's career mode, and I can't wait to see what's coming next!
@Majakalona Yep, though the white Vertigo wasn't officially in the game (but the repainted one was). I wasn't aware of the proto-Kicking Fish though. Neat!
The simplest way to explain it is essentially as a bunch of variables. If all variables are "true", the engine will turn on. With more advanced things that require you to do steps in a particular order, I think it's similar except certain variables require other variables to be true before they themselves can be true (and then eventually the engine is allowed to start after a series of these steps), but I'm not entirely certain.
@TheCommentaryGuy I'm not sure it actually should count as one. The Beast is scripted to move in a certain direction, but it's a dynamic object and really all it does is provide a constant "ahead" movement relative to the orientation of the ship, so if you nudge (or yeet) it out of alignment, it just kind of goes off in the new direction. Ideally it would try to return to its original course, but the game wasn't advanced enough for that when the ship AI was added back with the Tiny.
It multiplies the power output (and the fuel consumption rate) of the jet engine. For example, an engine with a powerMultiplier of 2 will produce twice as much power at any given throttle setting than the same engine with a powerMultiplier of 1.
In SimplePlanes, there's no functional difference between chaff and flares other than the visual appearance (and the launch force parameter for flares). One will work as well as the other.
If it suits your craft, you can pull the cockpits out of most of the stock planes without too much effort. None of them use variables so it's pretty much plug-and-play with those.
That, plus replicas are a lot easier to get references for (and to make something that "looks right"; I've tried doing a few made-up ones and they always just end up looking strange).
...Excess RAM usage won't cause the battery to explode. It can cause the phone to crash and need to be restarted, but it won't impact the battery. Excess heat caused by high RAM use could theoretically cause this, but only if the battery was either faulty or had been damaged due to, say, repeated impacts.
Perhaps consider treating your phone with a bit more respect rather than throwing it across the room when you are frustrated? It will likely last longer that way.
In theory the most efficient method of crashing the game would be to just have a full wallpaper-scale image imported into a text label (using SPRaster or a similar tool).
@Quercon Oh yeah, it for sure could be a thing (and now that I re-read your post, you're asking for it to be added, not how to do it currently). Maybe in a future update!
...No, it doesn't. ChatGPT and other similar AI "information" programs are designed to give you a response. If you ask the AI a question, it will give you something that sounds like an answer, regardless of whether the information is factual or not.
A good example of this is asking the AI to give you a list of sources for a paper, based on your topic. The AI will give you a list of proper-looking sources, but more often than not they will either be incorrect, attributed to different authors, or simply nonexistent. I'm concerned for the people who have adopted this so readily and are using it to try and find factual information (not quite what you're doing here, but close).
I'll say it again. ChatGPT and similar AI language models are designed to give you an answer, regardless of whether that answer is in any way truthful. There is no "conspiracy" about SimplePlanes 2, or anything like that. You asked it for information about a game that doesn't exist, and it provided that to you.
All that being said, aerial photography would actually be a really interesting mechanic or game mode. That's not a super common thing in games.
Well, if you don't want to spend money on Steam, SimplePlanes is also available for purchase from GOG and Humble Bundle!
If you don't want to spend money at all, that's called piracy, and is both immoral and illegal. In short, it is theft from the developers who have spent their own time and money working on this game. You will find no assistance for that here.
I wouldn't say it was embarrassing. It was the first flight of the Starship/booster as a mated pair. Really, anything beyond "it blows up on the pad" is a success, because it means the thing at least partially works.
Very interesting, though the National Republicans' goals of expanding the military and removing individual rights are rather contradictory to the "conservatism" ideal. (But maybe that was intentional!)
In theory, this is theoretically possible. A fully-modeled, fully-functioning engine is technically possible to do, as are the other parts (at least modeled; the radiator still wouldn't do anything, for example).
I admire your dedication and high ambitions, but this project would quite literally be a million or more parts (since you can't make each piece of a Mustang with just one piece in-game due to fancy shapes and whatnot), and quite frankly I don't believe even NASA would be able to make that work on their supercomputers.
It means it fits all of the criteria to be fully usable and flyable from cockpit view in SimplePlanes VR. Basically, you can fly the plane exclusively using what's in the cockpit, and it runs decently on the VR platform.
To achieve it, basically build a craft that meets those conditions and wait for the curator people to find it, I guess.
A new island/archipelago would be great, though the only place I could really see them putting it would be somewhere south of Sky Park City (Maywar and the Kraken are to the east of Wright/Krakabloa, Snowstone is to the north, and the Brown Pearl kind of requires open sea to the west). Sky Park is close enough to Wright that I could see them adding another island beyond it without too much trouble.
Maybe, but I don't think it's super likely. It would be a neat thing to add, but the complexity required to do so might be infeasible.
I'd love a new town or two, though I think they'd go best on a new island rather than being added to existing places. Maybe a few smaller structures scattered around, though. That being said, there's a fine line between feeling-empty-because-there-aren't-buildings and feeling-empty-because-there-aren't-people, and I really don't see them adding NPCs at any point in the future.
Some sort of radar/ECM systems for manually guiding missiles would be really cool, yeah.
Yes (except for the fact that there's a noticeable cutoff around each of the islands where the land mesh ends, so it wouldn't be a very "clean" implementation unless they decided to add seafloor to the entire map)
Please yes. Better yet, make a few updates and QoL changes to the existing Tracks 2 mod and package it in the game like Overload and FineTuner so existing builds with tracks still work.
Problem with official online multiplayer is that it requires money to constantly run servers, which means they will eventually shut down at some point in the future. LAN could possibly work though. The other issue is the same one faced by the existing MP mod, which is that some things (i.e. guns, engine animations, etc.) are exclusively client-side, and don't show up for others. Not sure if that's something that could be easily changed.
YES. I want to do more things!
I could see that being a thing, yeah. They already brought image effects (i.e. ouch the sun is really bright) over to mobile several years ago (As an aside, the display resolution quality doesn't have anything to do with whether a device can run it; that's on the graphics processing power)
AI parameters (spawn only prop engine planes, etc.) would be excellent! Also, more generic "simple" planes to spawn as AI, but that take advantage of the newer parts and techniques, would be nice as well.
@CarMakerFry20 If you have more points than the person you're spotlighting (you might also need to be above a certain number of points, I don't remember), an orange button with a magnifying glass icon will appear next to the Download button on an aircraft's page.
Great idea, except Apple decided several years ago to prevent third-party mods from running on their devices (or something to that effect), so there's really no way for it to work. Additionally, mod downloads (on other devices at least) are already pretty much the same as downloading a plane.
@Numbers2 @Blb1981 Oh, I fully agree that SimplePlanes' AI needs an update (or even a complete overhaul). It's such an outdated system that I'm surprised it works as well as it does. (For example, the AI still doesn't know how to fly helicopters even though dedicated rotor parts have been in-game for... how long now?)
The RPM is pretty self-explanatory (the speed at which the wheel is spinning in revolutions per minute).
I believe Offroad is whether the wheel is on a paved surface (e.g. runway) or not. I'm not certain but it would make sense. (Either that or it's just if the wheel is touching the ground at all).
Not sure on Forward/Sideways Slip. I'd assume that would be some measure of how much the wheel is skidding forwards (i.e. along the direction of travel) or sideways (i.e. not along the direction of travel), but I can't say for certain.
It's the overreaction
+2There are indeed a handful of puns here :)
+2Also with the kinds of quality builds you're doing you need to have more points than that.
+2Bold of you to tag me assuming I have anything in a state even remotely approaching ready for testing

+2I forgot that they changed the ring around the pad as well. It has been a while.
Also, looking back on it the old designer now reminds me of some of the SR1 parts.
+2What Zerø said, plus that it's 25k points.

NO. FREAKING. WAY.
Doom in SP is no longer a meme, it is REAL

+2@DatRoadTrainGuy19 So, that makes this entire post... a bunch of targeted insults at a specific individual?
Hm. I'll be interested to see whether or not the moderators decide if this sort of thing is allowed under the site's "Be kind" rules.

(Also, you spelled "flying" wrong on the fuselage)
