If this is serious, thanks for making the FT guide, it's incredibly useful.
Will it still be maintained though? Like what if an update adds new functions, will they be added to the guide?
I mean, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't all this like basic stuff planes have? Every plane is built to be as aerodynamic as possible, without vertical stabilizers all planes are unstable, most fighters now have HUDs.
I think AI has some ways to go before it can make convincing stories, though it's pretty funny seeing it hype up things that every plane already does.
Edit: Paying more attention some of this stuff is actually unique, but most of it isn't.
Proof: The post, Posts page
@Noname918181 Change your password. Now.
I'm sorry to say but your account was apparently hacked by some fishy bank account selling website, it's very likely they also know the email you used on that account now.
The reason I'm tagging you here is because the post I screenshoted will probably get deleted soon, as was the case with the others.
Lots of people have asked for the ability to "subtract" a hole from another fuselage, leaving a hole in it's place. This is a bit far fetched - it would be very complex in terms of the actual algorithm, and it would be difficult to get the collision geometry right.
You were a Developer before, which means you had permission to walk into any room in the Jundroo HQ, and to also add anything you wanted to the game's code, we just didn't tell you so we didn't have to pay you a salary.
I mean what position? I, as a normal non-developer user of this site, have no clue what you're talking about.
@JustWingIt Take the first rock you see and throw it in the air. If the angle it lands on relative to what it was before you picked it up is a prime number, square that number, if not and it's an even number, divide it by π. If the angle is neither prime nor even, multiply it by how many letters this comment has.
Then take the resulting value, show it to the Undo button and if it likes the number it'll work flawlessly, if it doesn't the gates of h*** open and what comes out depends on your luck.
That's how it was probably coded.
@Dathcha As a fan of "Top Gun" and flight simulators, I was thrilled to read about SimplePlanes. This article https://www.simpleplanes.com/ provides all the information I need to know about the game, including the rules and how to use fuselage blocks. I can't wait to start playing and hopefully win some upvotes! Thank you for such a well-written article.
@SupremeDorian Wait, is this why the posts seemed to get autoremoved when I commented on them, because I shortly after reported the post? Did I just happen to be the 3rd report every time?
I thought the hacked accounts were deleting their posts on purpose to avoid detection.
It's like a zombie apocalypse at this point, and no one knows how the virus spreads.
Depending on what they do to get access to the accounts, your password may not even matter.
Actually, this gives me an idea... time to increase the pile of dead alt accounts I have.
That is, upvotes are counted on the build, (but not on the account), you can distinguish the users who voted and those who did not by color.
Users must confirm their vote by going to the compilation post, otherwise the user vote will disappear within 12/24 hours.
But why? The players will already get notified anyways, they can just upvote the build if they want, all this would do is make it harder to implement the idea.
Other than that, it's a fantastic idea, it would get rid of both the T spamming and the jetstream spotlights problems.
Probably not too hard to implement either, the devs just have to copypaste some code from upvotes (excluding point addition), add a few new lines of text and buttons and it's done.
For anyone who gets an error about an invalid variable or something, clicking "Make a copy" created a broken copy of the spreadsheet that gave me that error.
To get the correct version I needed to right-click the blue square at the bottom, then select "Copy to > New spreadsheet".
@ColonelCanada Interesting. It also runs for me, but it took a few minutes to load and froze a short while after touching water. The game also refused to load after reopening it, I had to delete the _editor.xml file to fix it.
I'll go eat something, won't be able to respond for a bit.

I'm back. Oh maybe I should drink some water as well, hold on.

The TV isn't turning on, do you think it could be broken? Nevermind I was just pressing the wrong button.
Yeah people seem to forget this isn't Facebook sometimes lol, including me a few times.
Seems to be happening with a lot of forum sites.
This isn't like the old scam pill ad bots, this is a hacking attempt on a much larger scale.
Frankly I have no idea what they'll do, or any of the other forum owners. But if the problem is big enough someone will likely post about it on youtube, with some solution or at least to spread awareness.
Blocking the posts with a spam filter would also be a bad idea, since then there'd be no way to know what accounts have been breached.
Well if you see a vericrap post by that account that confirms it's something to do with the links.
If not, the devs should look into whether the hacked accounts had secure passwords, since if they did that points towards some type of vulnerability on the site.
I'm not sure if we even need an SP2 as of now, some updates fixing old bugs, adding a new island, improving the tutorial and maybe adding some new parts (like screens) would already be great.
Better optimization would be nice though.
It's a measure of how far away the part you're highlighting is from the cockpit camera.
For stuff the player is supposed to reach in VR, you should keep it close enough to the seat so the reach info is below 100%.
Honestly I have no idea what to use anymore.
Imgur is apparently bad, a bunch of services previously free now require paid subscriptions, and imgbb, a service I thought was a good option, goes down very frequently.
There's a way to upload images directly to this site, but it only works for pngs at a resolution of exactly 1280x720.
Guess I'll try Gifyu, hopefully it doesn't turn out to have some catch as well.
When you download a plane, you're actually downloading a .splane file, which you then have to open with SimplePlanes (the same way you open any other file) for it to download the airplane you want.
Once it does it'll show up in the designer, you should probably also save it so you don't lose it when loading a different plane.
@Defalt1 Microtransactions are awful, I sure hope this game doesn't go that route.
Not worth it for mp alone. Especially since it'd still only work on PC due to technical limitations, the same way as it does now for free.
I quite literally can't, there's no button to do it.
On an unrelated note, it's nice to know my script works on unlisted mods, since I didn't bother testing that before.
If this thing ever reaches 10k upvotes, the counter would occupy enough space to displace the "Remove Upvote" button.
I'm not too confident in that ever happening, but if it does that'd be cool.
@o2o I'm doing fine I guess, some anxiety problems but nothing new.
And nah I just wanted to know if you still remembered me, since it's been a few months I've been on this site.
@BeastHunter @X99STRIKER @IceCraftGaming I found this on X99STRIKER's comment section while trying to find a removed post of his, I see long conversations between 2 or 3 people are still custom lol
@HuskyDynamics01 yeah, guess it's time for me to download all my old planes and prepare for the worst.
be sure to download the xml though, the splane file won't work if the plane is deleted.
Would be cool to be able to play a song of your choice from within the cockpit, though I'm not sure how that could be implemented since the devs can't include an audio file from the player in a plane (could lead to copyright issues).
If it's just for playing in-game sounds like the rotator noise or landing gear that wouldn't be very useful.
It downloads a file, then you have to open it with SP, it doesn't automatically open.
As to how the downloads actually work, here's an explanation:
When you download a plane, what you actually download is a text file (with the extension renamed to .splane instead of .txt) containing the unique 6 digit code for the plane you want. When you open this file, the game downloads the actual plane data, increases the "Downloads" count on the website by 1 and loads it on the designer (replaces __editor__.xml with what you downloaded, that file is the plane you're currently editing on the designer), but it only stores the file with the proper name if you save it after downloading.
The actual plane .xml file can be downloaded directly as well, even for planes uploaded by other people, but I forgot the way to do it. Maybe I'll try finding out again how to do that.
@Graingy It's more or less that, since computers don't have infinite memory, floats can't represent every number, so they represents some of them and rounds the ones they can't.
Floats reserve more memory for really tiny numbers, so consequently they can't represent many of the really big ones, and so you need to round more often for those.
This is a problem for really precise stuff like calculating positions of polygons since the game can render polygons at coordinates 0.0000235 and 0.00004724 fine, but then you get to position number 29489359928384783395.0 and floats might not be able to represent that, so it rounds to the nearest coordinate it can represent which might be several kilometers away.
That's what causes all the weird gaps as you get farther and farther away from the center of the world (coordinates 0,0,0). There's a video on youtube explaining floating point numbers, I'd recommend you watch it if you want to understand this better.

Why are you apologizing? Your health is more important than making planes in a videogame, hope you get well soon.

Most used is probably the fuselage block, least used is probably the nose cone since fuselage cones do the same thing but better.
